If you are on the Left Coast, Cash and Carry stocks Lazzari Mesquite lump 40 lbs for $15.39, $0.38/lb regular price.

Search for Lazzari here:

https://www.smartfoodservice.com/shopping/searchProducts/

It looks like it is cheaper in CA than WA by about $2.00. I think it is from the Bay Area.

Lazzari is awesome stuff!  Love it.  It's unique too, because you can choose the specific kind of lump-- mesquite, oak, etc.. They also sell all species of smoke wood as well.  If I could get it for $.38/lb I would definitely do that!

This past fall I made a pilgrimage to their main warehouse just south of San Francisco, but they told me that all of their charcoal is now made in Mexico.  You can still see where they used to make the charcoal, though.

I missed out on the RO sale at HD, but I'm not too chapped because I'm pretty well-stocked for lump at the moment.  Also, the cashier was confident that the sale would resume over the Memorial Day weekend.  I know that my main HD has a *massive* stock of RO at the back of the store, which might suggest that they are planning a big sale.  Here's hoping!

How do you guys store your charcoal in bulk. I need to figure out a system or area so that I don't have to worry about moisture.....or is that a non issue as long as it stays bagged and out of wet areas?

On a pallet in the garage.

That's what I do too.

While snapping the above pic, grabbed one of the 40 Lb. Lazzari lump I mentioned above.

Screwed myself on the lump again.....damn it.  I went Sunday and picked up 10 packs of the KBB, but the Royal Oak was back to regular price.....DOH!
Hope there are some more sales this week

This is great Lawrence. Thanks.

Going to be doing a lunch BBQ for my co-workers on Wednesday    8) 8) 8)

Think I'll stop by Cash & Carry and pickup the Lazzari (mesquite).
Looks like it's on sale (in CA) for $11.97/40lbs (reg. $13.19) = .30/Lb.
Dude, relax your chicken.

Mesquite Lazzari is amazing stuff!  Really hot and very flavorful.  Last fall we cooked hanger steaks directly on the coals, and it was delicious.

I'll be attempting Tri Tip with it, using the Santa Maria attachment.  Looking forward to it.

Lowe's let me buy two twin packs of the 18.5lb bags of KKB for $9.99 even though the sale had ended the day before because they still had the sale price up on one of their displays.

Thanks for the price breakdown.  I never thought to do that.  I have been buying the 15.4 lb bags of KKB at Walmart for $5 since I thought it was a good deal.
