THROUGH THE MUD BBQ TEAM

Our local German Club serves a sandwich called 'The Octoberfest'.

Since October is nearly over, and I haven't had one of these in a couple weeks, I thought I'd try making some for the family.

This sandwich has 5 ingredients that I would absolutely NEVER try putting into the same dish. But somehow all the different flavors blend very well together,  and each ingredient compliments the next.

If you are looking for something new, and are adventurous enough to try this recipe,  I'm sure you will not be disappointed!

Here is the recipe :

On a Pretzel roll,
Spicy Dijon Mustard
Swiss Cheese
Bratwurst
Apple pie filling
Sauerkraut

MacEggs

I would have no problem consuming everything in the above pic ^^^^ .... Looks delicious.
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

I would definitely try that too! Looks great!

Man...I don't know. Apple pie filling sounds about as German as what? Everclear?

Ok...maybe if you served this with a couple two three shots of Everclear though. Hey! I'm back in! And the sausage and bier look beautiful.

I just Googled "German Apple Pie." So I will take all the above back.

I put apples in my pork and kraut , so this dish makes perfect sense , thanks for sharing

Jon!

My mistake.  The German Club uses 'caramelized apples'. I changed the recipe to my apple pie filling as I thought it might add more depth of flavor.  Is either authentic German?  Maybe. Maybe not. I could ask the chef.

Either way,  I thought this was a great sandwich unlike anything I've had elsewhere.

Maybe we could discuss this more over some shots of Jager instead of Everclear!

Jon

I would have a hard time with either of those drinks; I'll bring the beer and try the sandwich!

Before I saw the pic I thought you would form a bratwurst patty and put it on a burger bun. Kraut, apples, and pork is always a winner in my book!
