My Weber Genesis Skyline dream grill

I have been working on making a custom Genesis grill featuring the "Skyline Series" hood and special condiment rack that came with this limited edition featuring a graphic of the Chicago skyline that was sold through Sears. I hybridized a 13 flavorizer bar firebox and extended frame with the end caps and knobs from a later Genesis Silver. I put in a few special touches like the original Weber grill out handle light (uses 'C' batteries!), a Chicago White Sox decoration which also has a Chicago skyline, and 36 of my favorite red oak wood slats protected with four coats of McCloskey Man 'O War spar urethane. This has been a labor of love and at this time of Thanksgiving I am grateful for the help and advice I received from a number of great people.

Excellent restore. Makes me want one, and I'm not a gas guy.

Charlie,
Thanks very much! It definitely was a way longer project than I wanted, but  I have to balance a job and a half and other challenges. I am just really happy to have seen it through. It came out just like I had hoped.

LO,
I got that handle years ago and knew there would be a place for it someday. It doesn't go with many grills but I felt it was perfect for the urban, Chicago look for this one. I also like that it provides more space between the hood and my knuckles:)

Very nice restore.  I actually cooked on one of those at a rental property.  It needed some TLC and I wanted to take it home but I couldn't..
