Parts Numbers for the Jumbo Joe

I just picked up a EZ (98) Jumbo Joe, and realized that the grates are a unique size, so nervously decided to buy some before they go out of stock.  Talked to an especially helpful customer service person at Weber today, who was happy to look up all kinds of stuff for me.  So I thought I'd share the part numbers if anyone else might need them in the future.

Oh, and she said the official name of the pre-2000 18.5-inch portable grill is the "Jumbo Joe Gold Platinum Tuck-a-Way".  Kinda funny bit of trivia.

the top grate is #70605, $10.
the charcoal grate is  #7440, $9.99
the legs are still in stock:  #86820, $3.85 per leg
the lid lock support is #86821, $3

...all of which got me thinking that a person might be able to build a whole JJ out of parts, hmmm...

I was thinking about trying to do that mike. I have a red 18 I picked up a few weeks back and did a little research myself. I'm thinking that I may try it. The only thing would be the leg sockets.
A Wonderful Family!!!

You'd have the leg sockets, and also the handle(s) to worry about.  But an advantage would be that you could use standard sized grates in it.

Thanks, Mike! I plan to add a lid lock support to this guy:

"Have you hugged your Weber today?"

Mike, does "lid lock support" mean the thick wire that folds up to lock in to the handle on top?

mike.stavlund

G, I think it's the piece of bar stock that the lid bale you describe clips into.  Not entirely sure though.

...just updating this thread for posterity...

so yes, the 'lid lock support' is the piece of flat stock that locks the lid bale into the 'open' position.

the bale itself is called the 'lid lock wire', and is #86824.  $3.50 from Weber just now.
the dampers are #86822 and are 35 cents each.

(And as always, the single modern-style char baskets-- when ordered via stock number #62423 -- are only $3.75 per basket.  Best bargain out there!)

Picked up a pristine Jumbo Joe for a buddy today, and so wanted to 'bump' this up for reference.  Not that his needs many parts!  Looks like it was cooked on once and put away in a garage for the next 15 years.

...man, those old-school JJs are so sweet.  Love 'em!

The only things that have changed are the charcoal grate P/N 65949, cook grate P/N 66913. The bowl dampers they dont have, dont know if they're gonna get a new batch. Ereplacements has got zero bowl dampers for the outrider. SJG bowl dampers are too small so dont waste your time on them. Good luck.

No other options, weber has  the only cook grate that fits the outrider. Shipping is only $7 so order everything from weber " while they still have the parts".

I have this Black SJP - never used with new cook grate and both bowl dampers. I appropriated the lid lock wire aka bale for the Red Cajun Bandit if anyone is interested. PM me for info.

Personally I would use some magnets for vent covers.
I cook on: Backwoods Gater, Lang 36, Hunsaker Smokers, Pellet Pro 22" WSM, BGE's, WSM's, Cajun Bandits, PK Grills, Drum Smokers, Genesis Silver C, Weber Q's, Cookshack 008, Little Chief, La Caja China #2, Lodge Sportsman...oh yeah! Weber Kettles! Kamado restoration and pit modification hack!
