BBQ sauce
« on: April 05, 2017, 04:02:29 PM »
Anyone making it?  I used allrecipe simple BBQ sauce and made one batch per recipe and one batch with a jalapeño purée added. Both were really good. I just tasted straight and not in anything. I'm preparing for pork this weekend. Also made a Carolina vinegar sauce that is mostly vinegar and very tangy.  Any recipes you guys like?

I've been making this recipe for a few years now. Not my own, but can't remember where it originated from.

Ingredients

1c Ketchup
2/3c Brown Sugar
1/2c Beer
1/2c Soda
1/3c Real Maple Syrup or Molasses
6oz Tomato Paste
3 tbs Mustard
3 tbs Apple Cider Vinegar
1 tbs Sea Salt
1 tbs Dry Mustard
1 tbs Worcestershire Sauce
1 tbs Garlic Powder
1 tbs Onion Powder
1 tsp Thyme
1 tsp Black Pepper
1 tsp Paprika
1/2 tsp Cayenne

Instructions

Go right down the list and add all ingredients to a pot, one at a time, with your burner on low/simmer.
Start with ketchup, then add the beer and coke to thin.
Then add all dry ingredients - this will save you from having to dry out your measuring spoons before adding the wet ingredients.
For best results, mix using a whisk.
Once all ingredients are added, turn burner up to high and bring to a boil.
Turn off and let sit until cool.

I like this on brats or pulled pork sandwiches. Keep a squeeze bottle in the fridge year-round.

I don't really measure the ingredients, just try to get something close...maybe add more honey depending on taste.

Sweet Mustard Barbecue Sauce

Time: 15m (Preparation: 5m; Cooking: 10m)

Ingredients

1 cup prepared mustard
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon oil
1/4 teaspoon powdered oregano
1/4 teaspoon powdered thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne

Instructions

Combine dry ingredients in a saucepan. Add enough vinegar to make a mixable paste. Mix well.
Place over high heat and add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Yield: Makes about 2 cups

Never really attempted my own, other than a very basic one from a cookbook. I like the idea though, especially with young kids

Google "wicked good BBQ ique BBQ sauce"

Damn good! It'll take your pallet on a roller coaster ride. It can overpower a dish tho. Difficult to find some of the ingredients. I found everything at central market.

Try this:
1 1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 cups ketchup
6 tablespoons packed dark sugar
3 tbs molasses
½ tsp kosher salt
4 cloves fresh crushed garlic
1 tsp crushed red pepper
fresh black ground pepper to taste
2 good squirts Gulden’s mustard
2 good squirts lemon juice or 3 tbs fresh squeezed
2 good squirts lime juice or 3 tbs fresh squeezed
2 tbs garlic powder
2 tbs onion powder
1 stick butter
¼ onion diced onion
Simmer for 1 hr until nice and thick.
This also freezes well too!
I may have one or two additional secret seasonings(maybe my BBQ rub)! I could tell ya but I'd have to kill ya!! LOL!! :)

Seriously though, people tell me that I should be bottling and selling it!

Make it your own and add your favorite flavors.
