I got this redhead over the summer and I liked it because it had that dark fade towards the middle.  I aquired an ash pan from gummi bear and I found the ring on ebay.  This grill isn't set up to take the ash pan as it is too old for it to clip on so I decided to use hose clamps.  They worked awesome I must say.  I also had to replace the one touch system.  It was totally roached and fused together.  I Dremeled off the two sides of the handle and the hub fell through the inside.  I cleaned it up and it looks pretty sweet.  I had a new set of legs and wheels and a triangle so I tossed them on and called it a day.  I still need to add new handles.  They were still getting some spar varnish on them I'll get a picture when they are all done.

As always Phoebe approved...

This grill is a nice little cooker and now it's upgraded to a gold model.  Was worth the $25 I paid.  Took it to Octoberfest at work and cooked some sausages on it....worked and looked great!

Which type of grate is that leaning up against the deck, BTW ?

Did you find that one leg socket lined up?

That's the Charbroil Cast iron grate.  It is the center section.  It's a pretty cheap grate and I like it just fine.  The Graycorts are prob better but for the price it's decent.  Plus you can use it on an 18" or 22"

I think one leg socket almost lined up.  I didn't even bother trying, I just used the clamps everywhere..

Nice pics and how to for replacing a one touch system and fitting a OTS with the OTG ash catcher.

One thing I've always had a problem with is putting that washer in on the bottom of the kettle.  The one where it attaches on the outside of the bowl, where the sweeper level goes through that big nut.  It never seems to have enough space to squeeze it in there.

It is tight when it's new but it will work itself in and loosen up over time....

This makes me want to re-can my 22.5 red. I did the exact hose clamp method with the screws on the inside. A long flathead screwdriver fit right through one of the ring holes. I took it down this summer and made it a silver again, but I need to 'winterize' my redhead for use and it's gotta be a gold for the winter!
