Title: Pictures of your 26.75 please
Post by: Winz on January 17, 2014, 09:25:32 AM
My new year Weber resolution is to seek out and obtain a 26.75.  They never seem to come up on C.L in my area (NorCal).  I may eventual go with a new one, but for now a good used one is the goal.  I ask those of you that have a 26.75 - can you please post some pictures in reply to this post?  I want to be inspired (and jealous).

Cheers,

Winz

Here's the two big guys next to each other for the 4th of July.
Are you looking for newer style 26ers or old ones??

Here's my humble black flat-top. I'm sure a used one will show up with your name on it, but a new one would be really nice, and you can get replacement grates for it!

My 22.5" OTP, dumpster salvaged 22.5", and the 26er I picked up off CL late last year.  Also have a JJ and 22.5" WSM in the garage

This is a 13lb chunk of ham I did for Christmas Day.  Plenty of room to spare

Just last weekend, I filled the 26er up with a 10" cast iron skillet of baked beans, a cast iron Weber griddle full of potatoes, and still had enough room to toss on three 1 lb porter house steaks. I love the 26er, especially for indirect cooking

Jeff - I am open on that issue.  I wanted to see some examples from our forum to get ideas.  I have a blue SS performer, so if you want to ship the beautiful big blue grill my way......

MartyG - good advice.  BTW - that classic black with the dark wood handle is pure class.  Very nice!

OopezoO - thanks for that post - now I am hungry!  As you point out, the amount of room on a 26er is the prime reason for my search.  I often cook for a crowd.  With my performer and a 26, I can feed an army.

Winz I have a NIB 26er but won't break it out until spring here in Chicago. I had 2 previous ones and either sold or traded them. I stumbled upon one at target that was a return and ended up getting this one for around $180 with tax. I'm sure it will get used often.

My 26.75 collection
The black was a $30 auction buy, the "old gray" was listed on CL as 22.5. Keep your eyes open, one will show up! Good luck

Not a great photo by any means, but...  This 26'er was 9 days old when it was posted to CL as the owner wanted to downsize to a 22.5 OTG.  So, I swapped him a really clean OTG (which I added a lid thermo to) with a heavy duty cover plus 80 bucks.  We both walked away very happy, but clearly I got the better end of this deal.  Got it home, a quick bath, and introduced him to the girls.  :)

I used to think the MT was Webers best creation but you cant beat the versatility and extra cooking space of the 26.

I set a goal to do so before the end of 2013 but sadly, that has come and gone.   :(  I may get the urge if it ever warms up in these parts.

Craig - spectacular!  Very cool that your 22 and 26 match.

When Jeff sells me his blue 26  ;), it is going to match my SS blue perfectly!

Thanks, Winz. I love the browns. I was ecstatic to land a Chief. When Jeff sells me his red 26...... I'll have the red trifecta.... Then I woke up.   ;)

I found a blackie on CL listed for $150. I left work in the middle of the day and rushed right over to pick it up. When I got there I used some negotiating skills and WKC knowledge to mention the good and point out the bad. It was far from prestige condition but I was going for a cooker and not a looker. I counter offered 80 but we settled at 100. I haven't seen a 26r listed anywhere in my area since. They are out there but are far and few between. Be ready to act fast and do what you can to snatch one up.

If you can't find one on CL you will not be disappointed with picking one up retail. If I had to start over I'd start with a 26. Honestly, once you cook on one you will be kinda pissed at yourself for not getting one sooner. I have cooked at one time: 8 pork tenderloins, 2 sear grates with a 14inch lodge pan and 12 turds, an indirect spatchcock turkey, 3 racks of ribs...etc etc.

I was the OP on this thread back in January - at that time I was looking for inspiration for my own acquisition of a 26er.

I am happy to report I have since joined the club!

Peas - if it has not been said before, I hope you keep that new grill for a long time and eventually pass it down to your son along with the picture above.  He would cherish it forever!

I'd love to post a photo of my AA 26", but the truth is that I haven't touched it since I picked it up on CL last Summer. It doesn't look like much right now, but it is perfect under that layer of dust... I'd like to think that the dust is protecting it.  ;)

I saw a 26 in person and was surprised at how large the grill looked compared to the 22. On paper it doesn't sound much bigger...

You're right, the difference is much more significant than 4" sounds. That's true of the Ranch too. It is MASSIVE.
