Post by: Weber MD on September 29, 2013, 10:34:46 AM
Hi,

Do any members have one of these? Would you recommend it?

yes and yes. I put one on Buddy and it's so much easier/faster than the lid tab. plus the extra height can act as a windscreen.

Thanks mrbill.  Weber discontinued this product.  I really don't understand their reasoning for discontinuing some of the products they do.  Amazon has a few.

Does this attachment seem like it will scratch the lid?

In my opinion, no.  It's quite a loose fit.  Much more loose than the lid-holders on a Master-Touch or a Performer, not to mention the bars it's made of are rounded rather than the bar-stock the other lid holder is made of.

I'd give it two thumbs up!  (Unless you're cooking 'low-and-slow', then mine gets tossed in the grass as it lifts the lid a bit and messes with my vent-setting-mo-jo!)  LOL   :P

as long as you're not slamming it around, you'll be fine. just a slight lift, then a gentle roll over and it's done.

I ordered two of them since they are discontinued.  I'll probably later regret that I didn't get five of them.

^I know!  I don't even own a kettle and for some reason I feel compelled to order one.  I mean, right now I only have a SS Performer but I KNOW I'll own a stand alone kettle soon.  Jesus.  Lol, Weberitis, in deed.

These two images show the problem I had with this attachment.  Image #635 showed what happened before I "fixed" it.  Image #640 shows the fix.  Once I fixed the problem there was no longer a problem

interesting. is that the slide aside, or the lid bail system on the performers/new 26/mastertouch ?

The slide-aside is curved round stock, no flat pieces.  That looks like the bail set up and not a slide-aside.

It looked the same to me.  That's why I posted the photos.  I apologize if it was a mistake.

Got my slide-asides today.  I like that you can still use the grill cover with it on the kettle.

I'm up at my parents. So I don't have access to a grill for a fit, but it looks well built.
