Title: Found in trash pile.
Post by: Jasonkuse on April 15, 2024, 01:59:34 AM
Every spring the city I live in, Jefferson City Missouri, does a spring clean up. Residents can place large items on curb to be thrown away.  My neighbor chose to throw away this 6 burner Summit platinum gasser. Needless to say I rolled it straight to my house. The gas bars and deflectors need to be replaced but everything else looks great.  Any advice for where to find gas bars and deflectors cheaper than $160 each, please let me know!

Cool find!  Burner tubes and flavorizers can be costly..... I think I found some on ebay, although it was for the older east/west burner setup on a genesis.  Might try ereplacement parts for schematics and part numbers.  They can be expensive, but usually have them or can order.  Appliance Factory Parts could also be a resource.  I'm currently waiting on some Ranch parts from them.

I’ve always liked those grills. I couldn’t find any “less expensive” resources.

Is anything salvageable/usable, or is it all rusted through?

The flavorizors and burn tubes need to be replaced, as well as the ignition kit. Has anyone used stainless and made their own flavorizers?  I know a razor is the way to get the inside of a kettle clean, what is recommended for the inside surface of gassers?

I found a bundle online with burner tubes, ignition kit, and flavorizer bars for a good price. The grill currently has 13 flavorizor bars, but the ones in bundle have 12 (2 x 6 bar pieces). Is that a mistake not using the 13 bar set up?

Will those flavor bars be the right size ?

Depth, yes, 16”
Width is less with 12 bars not 13
What I’m concerned with is the spacing. I don’t want to end up with a burn tube not covered.
