Title: Ash pan question
Post by: Lilyankee on January 25, 2020, 05:48:58 PM
I am restoring a 70’s kettle and have read the restoration suggested cleaning methods. While working on cleaning, I noticed a defined ring around the perimeter of the ash pan. Does anyone know what this is...Is it a paint ring? Is it original? It’s about 3/8” from the edge around the entire perimeter.

I have several mbh kettles with the same ring on the pan.  It’s probably an artifact of the manufacturing process.  It’s spun aluminum I believe.

Water sitting in the ring.

Probably just the way they were stamped. I don't  think that the pans were spun.
