Title: Charcoal Is New All Over Again
Post by: FuriousHobbit on September 06, 2019, 11:47:33 AM
Hello everyone. I haven't had a charcoal grill in years! But that's all changed now. Yesterday I ordered a Crimson unit from the bbq guys. And wouldn't you know it, just hours after I order, I spot a used black premium with baskets and a cover only minutes from my house and for the low price of 60 dollars.

Of course I HAD to get the used one. And "unfortunately" the red one had already shipped so no cancelling the order so I'll soon be the proud owner of two Weber kettles!

I just got done cleaning my used one up. Previous owner used it as a smoker for the past year and judging from the build up on it, it hasn't been cleaned once haha. That's ok tho, I had some fun getting it looking darn near new again.

I'm running a small batch of coals thru it right now to clean up any residual cleaning chemicals and will be having my first cook on it later this evening.

Also pictured below is my first Weber we got around 15 years ago. It's been used a lot over the years and still looks And functions great (even with its current coating of pollen and dust).

We're going to cook some flank steak on it tomorrow night! I bought some royal oak and whatever the briquets are called from home depot. Think I may try the royal oak tomorrow. Never used lump before so that should be fun [emoji16]

Yeah I've noticed that. I've been lurking for the past week or so and finally decided to register as I pulled the trigger on some kettles. I saw there's even a meetup in the near future just up the road from me!

Welcome! That is a great find on that kettle. Come to the meetup! All the folks going are real gurus with kettles. I know I'll be learning a thing or two. Hope to see you there.

Well. I have a Performer SS, a Genesis and recently the WSM. I can’t remember the last time I turned on the Genesis! [emoji23]. Says it all. Charcoal rules. Weber briquettes being my number one choice! So enjoy...
