I'm making a cypress table for my 26 kettle... It's most of the way there. Just have a couple of things to wrap up to make it a true performer.
Started with very expensive cypress 1x6's and 2x4's and a brand new 26" kettle. I installed the table brackets I bought from unknown bbq and clamped it down to make sure I had the right depth measurements. The table would have been too wide for my side gate if I overlapped the 2x4's, so I joined them with a kreg jig. The frame came out super strong, btw.
I bolted on the casters and started trimming the 1x6 boards for the top and bottom. Had a quick test for to make sure everything would fit and look good. I wanted to make sure I got a coat of varnish on every side before I screwed everything together.
I thought about screwing the boards down from the top with stainless deck screws, but I decided it would look much better if I used the kreg jig again and fastened them from underneath. Finally screwed it all together, and put two coats of glossy spar varnish on. Added a bottle opener, which got put to work approximately 30 seconds after installation.
Smoked some wings and corn for dinner and I got a shot of the water beading up on the surface after a little rain tonight.
Still need to add gas assist, a handle to move out around a little easier, and another coat of varnish. But it came out great and even the cover I bought seems to fit well.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/e9ea5c1a986ef4f7db577f8f24cd1e69.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/69cce1f3afc014f1cd122f3eb28b57b0.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/ab340ef4b2ad1cc275c7b28e91cb7550.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/ad46b4b8e0c2d193b81e14393eb70836.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/1a942f88db9b1d64aef5f867f2947e29.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/1f8874b394cd7c712d3c19fbc3ea2e77.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/f6fe0dca8da9cf29f6e70c16a6850143.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/176200c459aed1f5b5d6079efba188a2.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/0378d9c23861f83403af307f47e100c4.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/15ae7cb06f2db96ec1d66e6125c9ab6e.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/0cd6b44d8ef243593a705438625afc51.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/da26ed550e0ae9b8ef79810d79eb5aec.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/39b102e4829fbc516090c33deb015bc0.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190826/1f472249ce8af23215c4436f009b0d14.jpg)

Found it on Amazon, it's intended for an egg table. I actually found it before I got started, so this sort of dictated the overall dimensions.

I normally hate wood tables with kettles... normally. This is a totally different beast. Love the look and it looks modern and clean.

it certainly has a green egg table look to it. i used a performer for 10 years before i decided to get a large green egg last year. i intended to build a table for egg (simialr to the one i just made), but i always hated cooking on the egg and missed my kettle (i have a 22" wsm that handles my heavy smoking duties better than any egg anyway). anyway, i like the egg tables and i wanted a big performer style setup... best of both worlds.

thanks, kreg is no joke.... agreed on the cypress, but i dont want to rebuild this in 5-10 years, which would almost certainly be the case if i had use treated pine. price on cedar in SE louisiana is higher than cypress.

What a beautiful table - great work and thanks for sharing!!

Very nice build. Cypress is what we used on our raised bed gardens... great stuff, and will last longer than I will...
-
I dig that a lot. Have been tempted to do something similar...

That looks really good. Another one for the retirement project.
