Title: Best time of year to find used grills

When is the best time of year to find cheap used/free grills? Fall when the new ones go on sale or in the spring when most people start grilling again?

A good time to watch is right before and after these holidays - Labor Day, Memorial Day, Fathers Day.  Folks tend to buy new grills before them or are gifted new grills for Fathers Day.  Any time during the summer months is prime time for grill sales.  I find things really slow down heading into November.

It likely depends on where you are.  I suspect if you live in a college town, you might find a lot thrown out in the trash, or for sale really cheap, at the end of each semester, especially the spring semester.  Probably a fair number are older ones, perhaps even some really old ones.

I agree with @Cellar2ful. I’ll dovetail on what Jim says: springtime and after Labor Day. So basically: Spring cleaning and not wanting to store a grill before fall/winter is usually when you find some good deals.

That’s a general rule of thumb though. I’ve had a score in Mid-January a few years back when nobody was looking. Also, estate sales happen all year around. Family members liquidate anytime.

I sometimes find the best time to find used grills is anywhere from several minutes to several hours BEFORE I do a search.

As soon as you don’t have the extra cash... that’s when I find a lot.
