Picked up an older new in box Smokey joe today with a plan to make a smoker mod out of it [emoji16]

I got a SJS last winter for $10 then Target last year had them on clearance for $7.99

Well the mod got put on hold, I opened the Smokey joe to find it was a miller high life logo, so I couldn’t make a smoker out of it, listed it on here and one of the members is trading a colored Smokey joe for it, so when I get it I will resume [emoji41]

that's a nifty looking mod, An...did you document the build or perhaps you have some pictures of the inside you can share?
and does it smoke the same way as a Smokey Mountain? if not, what did you have to change in your 'method'?

The barrel you see in my picture fits the Smokey joe perfect has a rolled lip on top that fits the lid and a stepped base that fits just inside the bowl, it’s going to make my center section about a foot taller than a 14.5 WSM, I’m interested to see how it smokes when I get it finished

There’s more than enough height to put three cooking grates but I’m curious if it will hold enough temp with the Smokey joe air flow

Actually it is a provider I Denmark who is making them.
I am going to mod this later .

Not yet, but it's going to be made, if it is making problems to keep the temperature for a long time.

What is the model number on the box of that Miller High Life logo SJ? I don’t believe we have that one in the SJ Model database....

New mini mod for mine mini smoker, installed a new vent Inthe bottom, which resulted in 250C ( with half amount of coal). So now it's a versatile smoker , slow grill, high performance grill etc etc.

I would just be worried a slight bump would knock it over if the smoke load is top heavy! :-\

Most of the time it will be smoking pork butt and beef ribs, maybe a brisket

Nice! I made on just like it. Put some handles on each side of the drum. It makes it much easier to remove it to add more coals or wood...Can't find the pics.
It actually did a great job of smoking. Gave it to my son when I got my 14" WSM
