I picked up a Weber spit from a gasser roti kit. I didn't like the extra length. I cut it down to the Charcoal spit length.
I made the following jig to sharpen the point. It worked really well. It is easy to adjust the angle of the grind, I went with a shorter point to have a better engagement with the motor. I think it will poke through meat and engage the motor nearly as well (meat) or better (motor) than the longer point.

Great contraption. I typically sharpen things free-hand with an angle grinder.

So true. My buddy with a shop w/ bench grinder has moved away. A bench grinder would’ve saved a bunch of time and dorking around.

@ClubChapin, at least put some socks on. Hot metal shards sting on contact (or so I am told).
