Title: Im sure this is a pretty common question
Post by: cgfern on March 15, 2018, 04:22:04 PM
I was pretty amazed when I came across this Weber community. I recently realized what a great grill I have after simply replacing a few parts on it!

Then I stated googling for other things, like DIY grill tables for Weber kettles etc.

One thing I was very curious about was, has anyone converted an open ash catcher to an enclosed?

Welcome! There are a number of threads with people doing that. Here is one I did http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/my-first-redhead-33429/msg333415/

It's really just finding the parts from an old kettle you find for cheap, or buying them online, then putting it on! You may also try search for converting from "OTS" to "OTG".

Welcome!

I built a table for mine because the legs of my junkyard Weber kettle were bent and I recently added an enclosed ash catcher to mine after reading the thread on it. I paid $25 for the ash catcher assembly from Amazon, I definitely recommend doing it!

It can be easy, or it can be a bit complicated. It all depends on what grill you have.

What grill do you have?

I converted my 18 inch for just 25 clms, bought theparts on ebay
very easy mod if the kettle is new enough, the sockets for the legs are the same and it fits right in
