She said auction was more like 2014. I'm trying to fine something on "Commerce Corporation" but there's a ton of companies that come up.

Anyone ever seen a repop like this before?

@Craig check out the lid vent tab, the replica should have tried to get an original lid vent or close to it.

STILL, very cool.

Those are the same replicas found in Weber Grill Restaurants and they were used as store displays in some cases. Super cool that you got ahold of one of these! I’d cook on it! But that’s me... as lightningboldtz mentioned, yes they did “cheat” and use a modern lid vent and three modern large dual tab daisy wheels, the original only hand one lid vent and one bowl vent and both had a small welded on square tab. Congratulations!

Did you have a heart attack when you first saw it?

Yes!  We need the story behind this awesome discovery!

Unfortunately, it's not all that exciting. We go "home" to WV every year for deer season / Thanksgiving. We got there Saturday and my wife was telling her mom about my recently diagnosed "Weberitis". Mom in law said to my wife "remember that grill you talked me into buying at an auction a few years ago?... it's up in the top of the barn still. We never did use it.  It's a replica of some type... it might be Weber."

Y'all wouldn't even believe what she paid for it. The receipt from the auction was in the grill.

I'd be surprised if Weber wants it, seeing as how they have it in all of their restaurants, and at their HQ. I guarantee there are a boatload of WKC Grillfellas who would love a shot at it, though.

I finally got a response from Weber re: my inquiry on this grill.  This is all they said: "In regards to the grill your mother-in-law purchased, that was a business to business venture we engaged in. Beyond that, there is not much relevant information available."

So.... hard to tell if there are many more floating around.

I responded back to Weber one more time and asked if they could share any further details about the rarity (or not) of these replicas. He responded:

"...I'm afraid we don't release the production numbers of any of our products, but I'd consider this grill to be rare, although it's certainly not the only one out there.  Your mother-in-law's is the first I've ever seen a photo of in all the years I've worked here."

So there are at least a few more floating around in the wild.

Sure looks like porcelain! There is plain enamel (paint) and porcelain enamel (glass). Why would Weber produce this only to paint it? I wouldn't trust some Rep. at Weber there are plenty of folks that can look at it and tell if it is porcelain.

I wouldn't cook on it if you want to preserve its value even if it is porcelain. Would that be correct?

I’m not going to cook on it... heck, it’s the only one I can find out there in brand new, mint condition. Besides, the employee at Weber did some internal research on it for me and came back cautioning me not to cook on it as it’s not porcelain. She was definitive about it.

I was in Chicago and went to the Weber restaurant there a couple weeks ago. They have one like this but it’s beat to hell. Does anyone know of any others of these that exist?
