Title: What's the oldest kettle that you have?
Post by: Charcoal_Guerrilla on September 06, 2017, 03:14:33 AM
So, what do people have?

Mine are mid-90s and younger.

My oldest is a redhead thumbscrew. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170906/6c1a111505aa590c5e5cc34e8099775f.jpg)

I've thinned my collection and I prefer the older daisy wheel models. My favorites are thumbscrew years. Just something about it that I love.

Not exactly sure, Fleetwood or offset handle SJ would be my guess.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170906/6bcaa92f8b74db3a320c37ad7b435b26.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170906/804b74fb4dee1162d47d604ed37d02fa.jpg)
Could someone help me figure out ages?

Patent pending is my oldest and lately I prefer One Touch OTS redheads. I haven't cooked enough with a wheeler to get comfortable and the ash management kind of sucks.

Find yourself an Internal Ash Pan and ash scoop if possible.  Complete game changer in regards to using three-wheelers.

BTW, let me buy you a double-rivet handle for that old red MBH.  Let @Zavodd44 know what you want and I'll PayPal him.  🤙🤙🤙

That is very nice of you Charlie. That ol' girl is a bit beat up but she made killer ribs for us on Monday. Thanks again to you and the crew for that one. I'll get with Brian.

By the way, leave the car out and put the grills in. Insurance can find you some new wheels but they can't replace your MBH collection.

Ok , I see the light.. yes your correct that I am one of the very few here in The Netherlands that has a weber that is SO old and yet SO Young compared to the ‘50-‘60’s grills that can be found in the states.
Let’s call it “green with envy and deep seated jealousy” ;-)
Still have to say it... wow those are some great looking kettles !!

Ps: my house is up for sale and when it sells .. look out !  I’m packing my stuff and coming back home to the states to hunt kettles :-)

In the mid ‘90’s my service manager at the Buick dealership I worked at in Michigan once told me :
I am so sick of snow and shoveling snow that I want to pack all my stuff in my car with a snow shovel on top of the roof of the car. Then I’m going to drive south and when I stop for gas and someone asks me what the hell is that thing on top of the roof.. then I know I have gone far enough south!
In other words.. some place nice and warm ;-)
