I'm sure this has been discussed before, but is that a gasket on your roti ring?

It looks like high heat gasket tape. I use it also it helps with the seal!!

Yes.  I put a rope gasket on top and bottom.  Glued it on with high temp gasket cement.  Made a lot of difference with the temps.
