Title: Weird handles?
Post by: tspin818 on March 28, 2017, 09:02:16 AM
This grill is for sale on Craigslist in Hemet CA. Says it's a Weber, but I don't think I have ever seen handles like this on a kettle before. Is this a rarity that I need to jump on?

looks like a happy cooker or sears model, it's not a Weber.

It's a Kmart "The Round One" made by Weber (zoom in on the kettle's handle & you can vaguely make out the Kmart logo). Original grate has been replaced with a newer Weber flip grate.

I'd grab it if was near me. Don't see many pop up.

Apologies in advance for thread jacking, but did Weber ever make any for J.C. Penney? I saw what looked like a Weber on Craigslist not long ago, but the the seller specified that it was a "J.C. Penney Weber."

I wish I had a definitive answer for you. I imagine that JCPenney probably sold a rebranded Weber, or Happy Cooker, way back when.

May be a Char-Broil, like I used to have.

Ha, it's still on CL, here's the ad. In one of the photos you can barely see what looks like a OT sweeper handle. Very strange.

Neat. You can clearly make out the JCPenney logo on the handle...
