I scored this Hobart N50 on CL in IL and put it in my carry-on back to SF (true story). TSA was cool with it in my backpack but it was damn heavy lugging it around O'hare and SFO. Anyways, it was my wife's x-mas gift and in return she's gonna make me a Sicilian pizza tomorrow. Check out her first dough ball! This thing does not mess around.

That is some serious hardware. I bet that would weigh you down. Congrats!

Now that's a mean machine, but I think it's missing something...

Very nice machine and dough ball! I've been looking for an old Hobart mixer like that for a while.

@56MPG I really like the personalized KA's. Who would have thought people are into collecting obscure cooking objects like mixers (or Grills!). There's actually a online group called WACEM- or We Actually Collect Electric Mixers.
my 26'r is heating up. Will report back later.

Nice score.

This pizza was delicious. My wife did a good job. She made a simple sauce from canned tomatoes and covered the crust with mozzarella, basil, 2 kinds of pepperoni, and parmigiano reggiano. The cooking pan was a think aluminum griddle pan we bought from the restaurant supply store. Grill setup was 2 full chimneys on the sides of the 26, Dough Joe pizza stones elevated via charcoal baskets. Temp was ~500F at the lid thermometer.
The pizza crisped up nicely over 20+ minutes. I think it would have been better to partially bake the crust and let the whole thing rise. The middle crust was a little flat but still tasty and crispy.
Do you like my custom painted WSM plate?
Thanks for looking!

It was an x-mas gift last year from an artistic friend. One of those "you paint it, we fire it" ceramics places. My wife received a Corgi themed one.

Very nice Sicilian pie! Bet that tasted great! 8)

Awesome mixer and that pie looks amazing. Watch yourself around that mixer. I saw a dumbass break his arm in one at a pizza place where I worked in highschool. He was extremely lucky he didn't get pulled in farther.
-
Living here in NY, Sicilian pizza crust is cooked first then apply your toppings and cook until toppings are done to your liking! Good looking pie and great find on the mixer!!!
-
Crust looks perfect! Nice work. My sister has a Hobart but the thing sits on the floor and weighs a ton!

No bloody shit man. I know someone who had to redesign their kitchen because they got a Hobart mixer....it weighed hundreds of pounds.
You did good finding one that fit in your carry-on.

@Nate, I can keep you in mind if you're serious. Just pm me what you're looking for and your budget. The guy that I got mine from has sold a few over the past few weeks and has reasonable prices. Out of curiosity, do you want just a Hobart/KA or are you also interested in an Anskarum type? Supposedly those are better for dough but I don't know much about them yet. The K5A/K5SS also seem like a good machines. I may have found a new hobby. lol.

That dough ball is a work of art!

More gluten shenanigans from my wife:
I borrowed the Kettle Pizza Serious Eats kit from @austin87. This is an amazing piece of kit.

I realized that all my 22's were colored so I set up the KP on my black 22.5" Weber Summit Smoker base. Not really worth crazing the other 22.5's I have.
