Title: Weber Books
Post by: havachat on April 18, 2016, 03:54:54 AM
Is there a list somewhere of all the Weber books that have been produced? If not should we make one?

This is the Weber KETTLE club, not the Weber BOOK club.

J/K

I think an easy search is to look for Jaime Purviance for the more recent ones, I am not sure about the earlier generation of books.

Not a bad idea

I'm thinking also putting ISBN's down also. Something to work on. I'll maybe start an alphabetical list and see how we go.

Upon Lightnings advice I have the following from Wiki...Easier start. There are a bunch more I'm sure we can add. Not sure what the arrangements were with the Australian Kettle Book but it's definitely Weber licenced and/or produced.

Weber's Art of the Grill: Recipes for Outdoor Living, Jamie Purviance and Tim Turner, ISBN 978-0-8118-2419-4, 1999.
Weber's Big Book of Grilling, Jamie Purviance, Sandra S. McRae, and Tim Turner, ISBN 978-0-8118-3197-0, 2001.
Weber's Art of the Grill Deck: Recipes for Outdoor Living (cards), Jamie Purviance and Tim Turner, ISBN 978-0-8118-3336-3, 2002
Weber's Real Grilling, Jamie Purviance, Mike Kempster, and Tim Turner, ISBN 978-0-376-02046-8, 2005.
Weber's Charcoal Grilling: The Art of Cooking With Live Fire, Jamie Purviance and Tim Turner, ISBN 978-0-376-02047-5, 2007.
Weber's Way to Grill: The Step-by-Step Guide to Expert Grilling, Jamie Purviance, ISBN 978-0-376-02059-8, 2009.
Weber's Complete Barbecue Book: Step-by-step Advice and Over 150 Delicious Barbecue Recipes, Jamie Purviance, ISBN 978-0600621119, 2010.
Weber's On the Grill: Chicken & Sides: Over 100 Fresh, Great Tasting Recipes, Jamie Purviance, ISBN 978-0376020352, 2010.
Weber's On the Grill: Steak & Sides: Over 100 Fresh, Great Tasting Recipes, Jamie Purviance, ISBN 978-0376020338, 2010.
Weber's Time to Grill: Get In. Get Out. Get Grilling., Jamie Purviance, ISBN 978-0376020604, 2011.
Weber's Smoke: A Guide to Smoke Cooking for Everyone and Any Grill, Jamie Purviance, ISBN 978-0376020673, 2012.
Weber's Barbecue Anytime: Over 190 Inspirational Recipes to Help You Get the Most Out of Your Barbecue, Jamie Purviance, ISBN 978-0600624134, 2012.

Cheers mate, I'm currently going through my whole book collection. I particularly collect weird bbq books and also really old retro type ones. I'll add a couple more...I'm hoping to collect a fair few. I'm more interested in Charcoal/Fire cooking first.

I have a few of the older Weber books, and I love looking at them, but I have to say that I appreciate the newer books even more.  Jamie Purviance does a great job of researching and describing his recipes-- I haven't been disappointed in one yet.

From 1990. Lots of dishes from around the world. This one is spiral bound, so it lays flat.

From 1999. Written by Jamie Purviance. A more 'high end' cookbook, with wine pairings, et al. Kinda like the Summit of Weber cookbooks. [emoji6]

I find thrift stores to be a good source of Weber books. I imagine dads get them for Father's Day and Christmas, and then they collect dust for several years before they are given away.

Picked up these 2 books at a thrift store.  A series of 4 in total.  Copyright 1996.

Not Weber specific, but a couple of books that first got me excited about live fire cooking were "Real BBQ" by Vince Staten and the legendary "Smoke and Spice" by Cheryl & Bill Jamison.

Lately my biggest literary influence has got to be Steven Raichlen.  As well as being an incredibly popular author, he's a Cordon Bleu chef and James Beard winner who also has a masters degree in archaic cooking methods.  His 'elemental' approach to grilling has me rethinking everything I thought I knew.

It’s never particularly fun going to work at 4AM every day.  But this morning was a made a little more bearable when this was sitting on my desk.
Nice thick box with oversized thick recipe cards and an accordion style pullout.  Very cool.
