Title: Blue WSM
Post by: ClubChapin on April 13, 2016, 05:28:57 AM
Would love to pick one of these up in blue. Must be a euro color. Hopefully they will release blue in the us.

Yeah it also made an appearance in the background of a couple of the Summit Charcoal Grill promo pics. Might be custom.

Funny I watched that video last night and if I could find a 18 or a 22 in blue I would buy it right now.  Wish my dealer could find me one of those.

Thanks guys...I'm really lucky to have the blue.  She is absolutely beautiful and always a conversation piece. As far as the back story, at some point it went down the line as a limited run, sat for a long time, and then was given to me by a friend at Weber. Because it IS such a unique item and Weber doesn't sell it (yet? future? I dunno..) I now, post SCG work, keep it on the down low, except on APP.

Cheers!
Mike

I'd buy one too.  It's got kind of an R2-D2 vibe going on.

It's not.  I made one about a year ago.  Well...had one powdercoated about a year ago. :)

That looks good. How did you do that access door? The cross hatch marks.

@pbe gummi bear, I haven't cooked on it since it was painted. :-[  Where I used to work I could get anything powder-coated at no cost.  When I picked up the 22" I thought what the hell, if the finish comes off I'll just get it redone.  I plan on just using it for low temp smokes when one comes along.

@Travis, that's the door that was on the smoker when I bought it a few years back.  It's a 1989.   The guy had a giant thermo drilled into the lid.  I took that out and installed a Weber thermo.

If my dealer said he could get a blue WSM I would be on my way now to prepay for it.

I don't understand Weber, when your biggest market is your home country why wouldn't you offer all the colors that are offered elsewhere!!!

That is the multi million dollar question, which it seems, Weber wishes to ignore. I'm pretty sure that if Weber started selling, in the US market,
all of the colors they produce, their sales would triple at the very least..

Damn, @bladz , that is one cool looking WSM !!

@Travis , I believe that's how the doors were on earlier models.  My WSM knowledge is very limited.
I was able to see @LightningBoldtz 's latest WSM acquisition (http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/wsm-weber-smokey-mountain/pimping-my-$40-wsm/) in person.  We were commenting on how different the door looked.  Also, an "L" code.

@MacEggs. I have no knowledge of wsm' at all other than one or two I've seen at a store. Thanks for the info!
