Title: Gollys warrior gasser
Post by: Golly on February 20, 2013, 02:35:06 PM
Well well well
After a tip off from hogsy about a two tone brown kettle gasser that just listed on gumtree
I was hesitant at first for a few minutes and then said fffuuuccckkk yyyeeeaaahh I'm on that
Called and spoke to Andi a very nice older gent who wasn't overly happy about selling it
After I told him I collect kettles and already had a red and a green he really opened up and was on for a chat ( unlike red gas kettle seller)
After chatting for five minutes or so on where I live and were he lives
He got back to kettle talk and said he bought it 4 years ago second hand and he has all the original documentation from when sold new including the manual and other pamphlets
Big win here as I haven't seen orig manual
I told Andi I would pay full price and not beat him down as I thought $70 was fair
Andi kindly offered to wrap and pack for free
Hang on phones ringing

I'm back it was Andi he said warrior was ready to be shipped
I said we'll when the payment shows in your account let me know so I can book the courier
Andi says just book it I trust that you have paid me
So I booked courier and its getting picked up today
It could arrive before red gasser or on the same day
Oh fuck how to explain that to SWMBO
Anyway here's a listing pic

You're going to need your own Propane refinery in your backyard! Awesome grill, when I first got into Webers that Warrior color didn't do much for me but I've really come around on it now.

Oh fuck how to explain that to SWMBO
Most of my collection is black. It does not look spectacular like some here but they cook just as well. And I can stick the odd 22.5 WSM or SJG in and SWMBO is none the wiser.  ;D

Nice grab!  Get some pics up when you can, maybe of the whole family.  And some of the brochures.

Sweet score! Ditto to everything Reilly just said about the pics! As for the brown/copper mist color, I guess I'm weird in the sense that I like the brown kettles and the avocado kettles. I guess I'm naturally drawn to the color schemes of the late '60s-early 70s. I'm also taking a liking to the limes. At first I wasn't wild about them (strange since I like 'cados), but I'm quickly coming around.

Only 1 chip on th lid rest immaculate

Very nice. I have never seen any brown Webers on CL here in Colorado.  If I did, I would be all over it.  :)

That is so sweet.  Looks mint, the bottom frame appears to have no rust or wear on it.

Great pictures.

A rub back and 3 coats of Matt black will do that
