Title: Found on Road Dead: No, not a Ford Truck
Post by: jfbincypress on October 06, 2015, 10:14:21 AM
Well on my drive home for lunch, I passed this poor little fellow. Risked my life to go back and salvage what I could find. No grates, no ash catcher, no lid (sadly).

He took a beating, but the bowl is still round and not mangled...just lots of road rash.

Is there any hope of finding a blue lid, and what do you do about that rash??

Project Kettle!  Rather than restore it, maybe you can create something wonderful with it.  Lots of great ideas in the present and past Mod Month threads.

The triangle and wheels are definitely worth saving if nothing else.

Maybe this is one of those kettles that you can actually repaint then repurpose as a planter or maybe get a peice of glass or a cutting coard cut for it and make it into a patio table?

For this grill I myself would put a black lid on it. Like you said he took a beating So it would be (Black and Blue)  Make it a cooker and them tell the story how you want...

my version would be something like this....I dodged cars as many as 30 I was like the game frogger dodging cars left and right forward and backward just to save this grill! On my way back a cross the highway a semi came by and nearly hit the grill....

Or whatever other BS you can pull over on people ;)

That's how I would do it the whole time laughing  ;D

I like the way you think, @Shoestringshop

It was quite dangerous: busy road, no side access, I had to park in the right lane and use the flashers...eek!

You may be able to touch up the paint with some high heat brake caliper paint. I touched up a red amend I worked great.

I have been looking for a blue lid for a long time..
Somewhere in a time warp is the land of lost blue lids!

That kettle started off yellow...it's the falling off the truck and subsequent bruising that turned it black and blue!

Just get a grill grate and use it for open lid cooks. Burgers, dogs, shrimp, etc.
Lids are luxury
