I got a chunk of snakewood, from Suriname, off ebay.
It was listed as a turning block for a pool cue, etc...
The handle is hefty, more than twice the weight of standard wooden handles, deep, dark and rich in color and detail. Like a fine piece of furniture.
I've adjusted the brightness and contrast to show off the detail.
It was difficult to photograh because of it's darkness and shine.
Truly a magnificent piece of craftsmanship, and I could'nt be more pleased.

The ideal size for one handle would be 1 1/2" x 1" x 11" that is the bare minimum. So if you need three 4 1/2" wide x 1" thick x 11" long. A little bigger is always better. It's nice to have a little room for error. I had never seen that snake wood before. It was really nice, it's stunning in person. There was a really nice depth to the wood, the grain is great. I left the lines off the left side to show more of the grain.....

@zavod44 You can do a vent tab???
-
Once I figure what wood I want...I'll definitely make some for the vent tab, Lid handle, lid bale and an table lid handle. !!!!!!!!
What wood would look good on a blue kettle in a ss performer? Anyone have pics?
-
Working on them, should have something this week
-
That is truly a thing of beauty. That color and grain REALLY compliment the kettle color. I not sure I could ever bring myself to cook on that SS and take the chance I'd discolor/stain my handles :) SJ

Oh my.

Beauty!

Just imagine, if you can, how INCREDIBLE these would look on a Grass Green Performer Deluxe ... SJ
