Title: Brand New in Box 1996 One Touch Kettle
Post by: RobbieMacNS on June 26, 2015, 01:46:09 PM
Hey there, I scored a kettle today from Kijij up here in Nova Scotia. Ad said it was new in box, went to pick it up and it was new in box but the box looked older than my other webers (2 WSMs and a Performer). Checked the date code and it's a 1996, had planned on taking it to the cottage but now I think I'll just buy a new one. Any idea on what this might be worth? Have a tasty weekend!

C'mon, @RobbieMacNS , we need some pics of a red NIB from down east, eh?  Not many of those show up in Canada …

Here is a thread to explain uploading pics.

Sorry it took a while to get these uploaded, I was going to take it to my girlfriend's cottage but I'm torn...:-) WSM, Performer, Kettle and Jack Daniels Napoleon propane grill makes for a busy deck at my place but this is pretty sweet.

That is sweet!!  Great score, indeed.  Watch for the colour-change when you cook on it … Very cool.  8)

I recommend finishing those handles so they will last a lifetime.  Maybe a coating of tung oil, then a couple three coats of spar varnish.

Oh, and welcome to the WKC!

I'd find a way for there to be room at home. That baby is way too sweet to just visit.....you need to see that on a daily basis. I would and do. The colour change when it heats up is gonna blow you away. And MacEggs is correct about refinishing those handles straight off. If there is no protection on them they will get dirty fast when you cook and handle charcoal. Use oil of some sort then a clear coat. If you use spar mix very well with a stick and apply thin with a clean rag would be my ever-so-novice advice.

That cooker looks so good inside on the wood floors.....you should do what I do....keep a Kettle or 6 inside.

What a find!  I don't know if I could bear to cook on it.  It'd be sitting in my living room.

Use it as a night stand next to the bed. Could use a grill light as a reading lamp.

Very nice find!

Nicest kettle we've seen in a while. They really don't get better than a fresh redhead.

I want to kiss and then immediately smack the man/woman that kept that thing bottled up for all these years - what kind of human being are you.

If you ask me, beauty like that deserves a home not a vacation home - and just because I am who I am, I also say that she deserves to get out on the deck and stretch her legs - get that Red fired up and lay some meat on her grates. She was made for a purpose and now you hold the key, don't screw it up!!
