Title: my atempt at a internal ash pan (round 2)

started with a serving tin from wally world and the bottom of a food grade barrel

i used 1/2 in self tapping screws  and cut the outside of the metal and folded it up to protect the sides of the grill when banking coals or running a snake

I`m gonna take it  apart and light a brush pile next chance I get  and burn of the paint from the barrel part  and the galvanized part too /// then keep it dry and see how long it takes to rust out  //// any ideas on other products to use would be appreciated

yea the air flow was great///  after welding the pieces over the gaps I think I got it the way I want it//// took it apart and burned all the finish off in the coals of a brush pile I burnt // and then screwed her back together

Instead of burning off zinc coating, why not look up a plating shop that does zinc work and have them strip it.  It takes seconds and they will likely do it for free.  Just don't make it a habit unless you discuss a price.
