It is a handy thing. Do take note of the heavier weight. I take mine out before moving the Kettle as I do not want to wreck it due to being too heavy....I also take out any firebricks. The heavier wider bars also do not allow for as even a heat distribution or air flow as the standard skinnier bars on normal grates....I believe. I wouldn't use it for low and slow.

I really want one of those, I wish they would come down in price a hair.

I'll have to swing by and check, though my local Lowes never puts any Weber stuff on clearance.

A few months back I found a great deal on these with the $45 sear grate, I was basically able to get these for $30.

My buddy @argentflame gifted a gourmet grate to me last year.  It has become my everyday grate.  Some advantages over the normal grate include:

I would be lost without the gourmet grate - it's awesome!

Swung by both of my local Lowes and neither one of them carry it.  Of course they carry all the inserts for it, like the Wok, Cast Iron, and the Chicken roaster, but they don't carry the grate itself.  Going to have to give a home depot a try.

I just picked this up at the Lowe's in Carlsbad. They have only one left that I could see.

My Lowes sucks.  Jealous of all of you able to get it at a deal.

Seems Lowes is discontinuing them.

Called several and they don't even have them in their system.

One store I called said they had two, but there were none on the shelf.

Hmmm...might have to grab the last one, on my way to work in the morning...

I've looked at my regular Lowes and it has been regular price. When I saw this post today, I called them and they had one in stock, full price. Called another and they had three in stock, $14 ea.  I had them hold two and went down there and bought all three. Interesting thing, they were on the shelf with no price. In the system, they were $14.

It can be worth calling around.

The accessories/inserts were full price still.  Maybe those will go n sale somewhere. I guess I'd get the sear grate insert. The inserts don't excite me so much. I'm going to use with my actual wok and the vortex I recently ordered.

Glad you were able to score a deal. I'm interested in a wok and the seat grate I suppose. I snagged the griddle, which I still need to try out.

Has anyone seen a deal on the inserts?  It seems if Lowes is blowing out the Grates, that they will have to soon blow out the inserts.

Dayum! I've only picked up 3 kettles in the Rainer Valley in the last 9 years! And I'm an old Capitol Hillbilly!

Been checking the bLowes and Home Despot a couple times a week on my way home from work in the mornings and the grates are never on sale in the Northend!  Nice score!

I got a griddle insert on sale. I've been trying to score the searing grate and I really want to score a wok too.

I called a few stores here. One had them for $30, and one had them for $27.  Just have to wait it out, i guess.

I can not express how jealous I am between the folks getting the clearance deals on these grates at lowes and the people getting the clearance deals on the performers at home depot.

crumbsnatcher hooked me up with the cast iron grate insert that were on sale at  his local Ace Hardware. He gave a heads up on his score, and I hit up 3 in my area and none were even in stock, so there ya go! Gotta love this community!
