Welcome!
If you have a special picture of a completed finished kettle project share it here in all it's glory. Set the stage, add those rare hard to find accessories and show off the custom work and restoration you did. Rare non Webers are welcome as well. When did you get that one? Is that an original Weber pan on the bottom? Liking those wheels! Steel handle on top and all...cool!

I found a little time to finish it yesterday and today because it's been a really long time since I had anything new to share. Most of you know I am a fan of the old soldiers that served so many birthday parties and get togethers including those long hot summers when it's too hot to cook indoors. I made the bottom pan for it and think it would be great if we could reproduce the old style ones. We have lot's of great talent on this site and share a love for the oldies. :)

So what was it like when you started? How did you make the bottom part. It looks awesome. Is the bottom part sitting on an existing triangle? if not what did you use for the axle? I like the look of that triangle...please share

Yes the pan just sits on the original triangle. I will email you with the details Brian. G, this one already had the vent.

Being the "Pigpen" of this small, but powerful, Weber family....
I'm really gonna have to go back thru the clean & polish threads, find the right chemicals & start gittin'er done after seeing this..... :-[

Jeff it was so nice here today...I almost rallied the troops and did a new family portrait myself, but I ended up rehabbing a redhead and putting the correct wheels with the whitewalls on my Gourmet. Here are a few pics to show them off....

you did a great job on the yellow one! How did you do the white walls on it?
I thought about bringing all of them out too...but just didnt have time. Its been a couple years now since I had them all out together...plus waited cause the red 26 is still under construction.

Terry. the secret to fix my wheels was I cut a large circle of styrene, then I spray mounted it to the wheel then ran a very small bead of thin super glue around the joint to hold it. The styrene is only like .020 thick so it's so thin you can't tell it's not painted and it is perfectly white.
Maybe I need to go into refurbishing people's wheels. If you need wheels fixed up contact me and we can talk....

Those are some nice kettles, Gentlemen!! Duke, you just gave me my first glimpse at a metal top handle redhead!! Love the 50's triangle pan. Between Duke's triangle fabrication, Brian's wood handles, and Jeronimo?'s possible twist ash pan fabrications, WOW!!! Now if we could find a way to replicate the old metal handle shape ('50s-'80) for the appropriate restore or "hot rodding" a modern kettle then the possiblilites are endless! ;)

Okay for the guys who live around here maybe we can meet up and I can just take your wheels and fix them. Jeff your easy to get to, Terry, maybe you send me your wheels since your mailing me stuff anyhow, and then we can meet up once I fix them, does this sound like a plan? For the guys out of town who need this we can discuss....

I may not be able to send the wheels, having one hell of a time getting the caps off. If I can get them off I'll ship with the other stuff Brian. If not, another time.

Get those caps off and get the wheels to Jeff. Just grab them with a vice grips or ease them off with a flathead screw driver. I got caps if you need new one... It will give me an excuse to go talk shop with Jeff at his museum, which I always love....

yeah...those caps are easy to come by at Ace Hardware in the parts drawers. They are called push on caps...or something like that

My cookers are daily drivers, not trailer queens....OK - I take that back, I have 4 WSM's in my comp trailer.

I've never had any problem getting them off all the other grills..these do not want to come off! When I have more time I'll try again. It's like their holding on for dear life, lol.

Things have been hectic at work lately so i havn't had much time to have any "fun", but on Sunday it was my only day off and I was having family over for dinner that night so I decided it was time to finish up one of my projects.... all the 'Warrior' needed was a brand new finished handle. Thanks to Brian, again! Also an added bonus!! About a month or so ago, Stu (G) was nice enough to set me up with a mint wooden Weber work table, so I had to hook it up with the appropriate kettle. The wooden tables of course were meant to attach to the metal bowl handles, If I want to use it on my '95 redhead, I just remove a wood handle and it lines up perfectly in the 18.5" slot on the wood table. So I'd say that this Warrior is all finished and is ready for another 3 decades of service! A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Stu and Brian! I really appreciate it!! ;)

That is SWEET! is that an original table? I only ask, because I have one on my 26 Brownie. Ionosphere's have 18 and want to make proportional model.

Yes, this is an original from the '70s. Right down to the towl ring on the one side. I read somewhere (here, I think) that Weber only made these until 1977. These should fit a 26" easily. All Weber did was use the old style thumbscrew leg sockets to adjust the height. The only thing missing is a chrome leg cap, but I'm sure I can find one at SLowe's or the 'Depot. This was definatly a good investment! All I need now from "accessory land" is a '70s kabob ring and a Corn 'N Tator ring.

I have that same table still in the orginal box, pretty much unused, but I don't have the towel ring on mine. I bet its the same towel ring like the Sequoia has.

That's what I thought too when I saw the towel ring. I wonder if Weber did them with and without the rings now? Do you have a pic of it/ original box?

I used a narrow tube of super glue to keep them in place. Probably didnt need to, but the "AMT/ERTL model kit builder" in me said to.

And yes, I know I have the table mounted wrong on the Ranger...I've been taken to task already, but NOW I know how it mounts to the kettle!

Thanks, Jeff! Here's a couple shots of mine. Its got a wide metal handle bracket for the old 22's and a narrow one for the old metal handle 18's. Looks like our tool holders are set up a bit different. I sometimes forget that back in the day flathead screws were standard.

I have a Brown Flat top 26" with the same table, My set up on the end is different. Now that I know they metal end caps
to be authentic, I am removing the white ones.

My end that attaches to the handle is also different. I don't have pics of it handy now, but I know I sent some to Brian. Maybe he still has them and can post them. If not, I can take some new ones.

I painted it. The original black was pretty faded and it didn't look cool. It's a dedicated smoker and I don't expect to take it over 300.

That turned out REALLY nice. Hope it holds up. That color looks identical to the old Weber red we all like. Can I ask what paint you used? What color name was it? I know its probably not a high temp paint, but what brand and color name?

It's Duplicolor red and it is a high temp 500. It's the same paint Brian used on his red CB.

"red" only? Seems these days there are so many different names for various shades of red.
