Alright fellas. Tomorrow I make my first attempt at smoking a turkey. I've read, it seems like, hundreds of articles and recipes online and I think I'm as ready as I can be. I figure I'll go with the method that Meathead outlines on amazingribs.com. It seems to be as "complete" and straight-forward as I've found. Any hints, tips, or suggestions that y'all may have, though, would be most appreciated. I'll try to remember to take pics and post the results. Wish me luck!
1) Don't sweat the small stuff.
2) Take pictures.
3) Most importantly, enjoy yourself you're a grill-fella!

I just did one the other day for the in laws. Just don't go too hot and keep an eye on your temp. I went to 160 and removed and covered. It hit 165 and it was perfect. I made smoked gravy with the drippings .
Done and very happy with the results. I'll post a couple of pics when I get them uploaded to Flickr. Why would you cook turkey any other way?
