There is a secret meet up going down, with epic trading going on, possibly as many 15 grills trading hands, more details later... This is the back of the van right now....

Epic, this will be interesting. I hope there are pictures to follow. Van is a little light...

Brian please tell me you are not sending a chestnut coppertone farther away from me!
There is another vintage grill in that van as of now...next stop....Gurnee
In the light that chestnut looks dark yellow or light orange. I have a new appreciation for the chestnuts. I have a feeling tery and his red flattie are in on this.
What is it Gummi always posts? "DIS GONNA BE GOOD!" ;D
The Chestnuts, like the Lime's have grown on me over time. The two tone mist is killer.
Yes, these threads are awesome.
Secret? Sounds sneaky..... I guess the secret is out now. :) I hope there is a group shot of the trade items in a coming post!
I wonder if Jeff's recent Wood Dale is in the mix? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
I can tell you I have no fewer than seven grills in my car including a stainless performer and a ranch....

Three may have been upwards of 20 grills change hands outside Chicago today. It went down in Gurnee... there were so many grills out there, the rent-a-cop stopped and told Terry there was no tailgating in the lot..... No shit....

Thin Blue Smoke was involved and he doesn't even know it yet.....

Lol... that is secret! No group shot? What gives.... did you all take an oath or something? 8)
First stop Jeff's house, picked up the Yellow, then headed an hour and fifteen minutes North...

Next stop Bass pro parking lot...
and the exchange began

and it kept coming out of Stu's truck.
(http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z276/zavod112/IMG_20130921_103951430_HDR_zpscb1c74ca.jpg) (http://s193.photobucket.com/user/zavod112/media/IMG_20130921_103951430_HDR_zpscb1c74ca.jpg.html)
And coming
(http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z276/zavod112/IMG_20130921_104106724_HDR_zps3724f0fc.jpg) (http://s193.photobucket.com/user/zavod112/media/IMG_20130921_104106724_HDR_zps3724f0fc.jpg.html)
until my van looked like this...

Stu's truck and Terry's SUV looked about the same....
In case anyone got confused, CHICAGO is the grill mecca, don't let anyone from San Jose tell you otherwise.....
Great job guys. ;D
But where'd the boob end up?
Okay Brian! I want that ranch even if I have to come and get it myself! Let me know when your ready to do some real dealing! 8)

Great thread! Makes me wish I still lived close to Gurnee... if I'd have known this meetup would have happened, I would have never moved away.

Well here's the loot I came home with...yikes my truck was loaded on the ride home! Gave Stu the red 26er and an undisclosed amount of $$$$ and Brian got the mothership. Thanks for the meetup gents, it was fun. And no tailgating in the Bass Pro parking lot dammit!

How is it Wisconsin WKC members are not invited................I live 95 miles form Gurnee and would of come
Bluesman if we knew you wanted to trade any grills we'd have told ya! Always room for one more.
Stu is from Wisconsin! Bluesman are you gonna come to the Meetup here in Chicago on Oct 12?
I could use a road trip...I'd take a ride to Chicago, check out the Weber grill.
Thanks for Sharing the knew members of the family guys! LG, I thought you had space limitations??? LOL! Nice Kettle all around. Sounds like all parties are happy, this is WKC at its best. Congrats all.

Greg I've had to move some kettles to others and I am full to the gills now! I even bought a small shed to put outside near my garbage cans to store some less important stuff (grills are in the garage...they take up an entire side and a dozen SJs floating on the walls).
What a morning....I rolled into Gurnee with 11 kettles. Rode home with this:

Wasted no time putting this cooker into service. Its a little rough around the edges but still works well.
I was happy because I was able to cross a couple off the grail list. The wife was happy because of the extra space in the garage.
Hey Bluesman....the kettle wagon was packed tight so no room for a wingman.....will have to connect next time.
Very nice Stu! I couldn't be happier with the grills I acquired so thanks again buddy!!!
Right back at ya....thanks for parting with the 26er.
I knew you really wanted that one. Couldn't have found a better person to swap it to (or someone closer, lol!)
WOW..... That is a successful day! Thanks gents for sharing the pictures. It is cool to get a look at all of that going down.
Looks like fun! Sorry I missed it. Didn't get the memo. ::) (Could not have made it anyway - we were signed up for a 20 mile run at Busse woods.) Can't make the 12th either. :(
That sucks you can't make it out on the 12th Hank.

You training for a marathon this fall, Hank? Chicago maybe? Good luck with those long runs-- they are challenging, but really fulfilling too.
I think my backyard looks like Stu's garage now. I'm glad his garage looks pretty cool.... Thanks Stu, and Terry. These guys are two awesome traders and I mean that in the best way.

Deal cut! I can't wait for the Mothership to land In California. Much appreciation Brian and it was an unexpected pleasure to speak with you, especially on such an epic day. That was one trade meet for the record history books! :)

I should add that i'm still shocked by some of the GRaILLS that were traded today. :o
Shaun, I was thinking the same exact thing. It must be in the air, there have been some neat positive activity.

Is the grail the one in the background? Only posted on CL and grabbed by LG? Now leaving Zav for the west coast. This is a plot as thick as. "Sons of Anarchy"...
WOW guys! Looks like a fun and productive day for Grillfellas exchanging and sharing. Its nice to see that everyone had a good time and even walked away with some treasures. Love that red 26'er Terry/Stu! Shaun, congrats on the Mothership deal, nice work Brian and everybody! :)

Well it's too bad that you gave me like 10 legs, today and 25 legs last time, you don't have a spare leg around? Maybe you could use the beef stick you wouldn't give me to prop up that grill?

We did a marathon in April in Olathe KS (and had an opportunity to refuel at Oklahoma Joe's ;) ) and will run the Naperville Marathon in November. Chicago was our first marathon last year. If I participate in Chicago this year, it will be carrying a photographer/videographer on one of my motos.
WOW !!!!!
Out of all the wild stuff that went on there......that gray is the killer !!!!!
I really don't know if I could participate in something like this......get too light-headed & probably pass out from excitement !!!!
Good Show.....One & All !!!!!

California would never be able to claim that title. The serious vinti's never made it this far, well except for the "52 I let go maybe. I think that was just a fluke though. ;)
I wish you could have been there buckey.

Before I got stung. I was still into kamados and had no idea it was that rare other than knowing it was an original. I let it go because it was missing the lid, but the guy wanted ten and wouldn't accept my offer of eight. I even asked twice! :-[
By the way, Stu has really become the 26'r man. It looks like he's moving away from the teens.
Wow! Just Wow! Some absolutely mouth watering grills there! That yellow looks amazing.
Ken
QuoteStu has really become the 26'r man. It looks like he's moving away from the teens.
I think I passed that crown over to Terry after this weekend. I still have a few that are very old or near flawless and may pass those along at some point but for now, Im content.
No stu your the 26 man now...I'm the 18 is what I think you meant :P

It'd be fun & way exciting......too many other grindstones to apply the nose to currently...... :o
We may have to instigate a "Quarterly Grill Family Photo Review" after these meetup / exchanges things keep happening......seems even at the friendly cookups, a little something will mix & stir around !!!
