Was walking by a farmer's market on Saturday, and surprised to see some corn for sale so late in the season. I figured it was past its prime, but thanks to Duke's kindness I've got an old-school corn ring calling to me from the back deck, so I made a deal on a dozen ears and hurried home.

Lump in the middle, lined up and ready to roast.

Taste test-- almost done, but not quite.

Time to pull it off and let it rest.

Shucked and piled next to some sausages and brussels sprouts.
Turned out to not only be the best corn of the season, but the best corn in recent memory. Might have been the crop, or the farmer, or the cook, or the venerable corn ring. It's best not to wonder why, but to simply enjoy it. Many thanks to 2013 for saving the best sweet corn for last.
Nice mike that looks great!
"my kettle is more powerful it will do almost anything."
Looks awesome! I love sweet corn and that looks fabulous!
Looks great. We are still getting fresh local corn at the big stores for 10 to 25 cents per ear un shucked
Man I love corn, I love like it was a meat.
And that corn looks super tasty, especially next to those 'snags'. :)
