Title: Marty's Semi-vintage Photoshoot
Post by: MartyG on September 05, 2013, 05:14:25 AM
Finally had a good morning for a few photos of my semi-vintage collection.
Here's my 76/77 22.5 - the "story" kettle I grabbed in Chicago a while back:

And the 26er I magically picked up the very next day:

And the A-code 18.5 I traded for a clean red MT:

And the SJP I traded for a really nice red OTS:
And finally my red SS Performer: (cleaned up for the first time since I bought it!)

I'm feeling like my collection is in a good place now, but I reserve the right to add the occasional special kettle. I have several others not shown that are in the mix, but not destined to hang around much longer. My current go-to is the black Performer I picked up recently. I gave my nice little '97 cherry-red 18.5 to my grandson (via his Dad) last weekend. He was thrilled! These are all (or soon will be) cookers. I like the idea of making memories on the vintage stuff, and not looking at boxes - not that there's anything wrong with that.

Once we get a gallery going on the site I'll be sure to get these in it. It's going to be fantastic! (But don't hold your breath...) Maybe this post should have gone in the "Show us your pit" thread, but these beauty shots were not really family portraits. Maybe "just a bunch of pictures I like" would be more accurate.

Enjoy!

Very nice collection. They all look in spectacular condition. Great work!

Love the paint on the 76/77 (a few good things born around that time). ;)

Very nice!  I appreciate the black kettles as well and you have some very nice ones (even though you traded some down the river :) ). I also enjoy the aspect of "making memories on the vintage stuff." I get so much more out of it and feel like I have the opportunity to pass it on.  Thanks for posting these.

Somehow, you make these black grills dazzle in photos Marty.  And it makes me happy to hear they are all cookers.  Grills were meant to be cooked on.

They deserved their own thread!

You mean my wife's grill? It's on the deck, ready to use, but not as pretty as these yet. (The grill, not my wife) I need a day to get it back in shape. (The grill, not my wife)

Great looking collection Marty.

The blacks are just so stately and... dignified.

Your black kettles really pop in those photos Marty! Awesome collection. They all look like you went back in time and bought them all new and came back to the present. Vintage black is my favorite black.

And COOKER is the way to go! That's what they are for and the vintage kettles are a lot of fun to cook dinner on.

Marty...those are the nicest looking black grills I have seen.  The handles finish them off.  I like the WKC sticker on your Performer!
