Title: First Time Grilling
Post by: Lradke on August 25, 2013, 06:02:09 PM
I picked up a mid 90's Weber yesterday morning and cleaned it all up (thanks to those who said go used! :) ). Today I fired it up to grill some chicken for dinner.  I had the chicken on there about 45 min (a bit too long maybe...who knows) and it turned out amazing!  I threw a few chuncks of pecan on the coals to give it a bit more of a smokey flavor, and it did just that.  Everything turned out absolutely delicious with no effort on my part at all.  I was very pleased to see that I could throw the meat on and leave it, and not need to worry about flipping it (2 zone cooking).

Like I said the chicken turned out great. I find the pecan gave it a deep campfire taste; it wasn't too strong which was nice.  My wife and oldest girl loved it all! I look forward to many good grilling sessions in the future! :D

Edit: Needless to say I will be adding a Smokey Joe to the collection for when we go to parties, camping, etc! ;)

Your cook-up looks delicious. Thanks for sharing.  :D :)

A Smokey Joe is great for a few burgers or a couple of striploins. I use mine for just that ..  :D

Great looking first cook!  So, you're looking for another grill (Smokey Joe)...I see where this story is going!  I started out with a first and second grill once upon a time as well!  LOL
