(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/20/retyme2u.jpg)I ran across this at work today. There are more chips on the other side. I didn't lift the lid, can't get too nosey!
18 cado!!! I'd be onto that!!
But I can live with a few chips
Yeah that's rare. Go for it
JC, get it. if you do not want it, I do.

Pretty much what G$ said. But he spoke first.. ;)
Secure it first - ask questions later. ;)
Okay, okay! I will stop by and chat about their grill this week.
I have a feeling they can be talked out of it! >:D
Am I too late for admonishment & gentle bashing?
This IS the prime directive !
"Get it already
Get on that shit
Won't take no for an answer
I'm feelin fruity"

Well said buckie 8)
Nice find JC. Hopefully you can pick it up that would be nice. I know what you mean bout not being to nosey while at work. Makes it hard sometimes when you see some items you would really like to have.
Good Luck JC!
Get on that grill JC! :o

Yeah, we had just finished extinguishing two storage sheds that had suspiciously burned down in the back yard while the owners were asleep.:o. I have to keep on topic with the resident until the work is done! But I can knock on their door while off duty and ask to discuss whatever!;D
You are a true hero JC! Much respect to you my friend! You rescue people and grills in distress. ;D
I can tell you, JC puts in the leg work...
Okay, an update!! This thread could wind up with enough drama for a cable TV show. I went and spoke with the responsible party at the house with the above mentioned kettle. There is a question of ownership. She will speak with her adult son this evening to see if the kettle belongs to him or his brother. If it is his, then she will see if he will part with it. The brother is incarcerated awaiting trial without the option of bail...
This is the grill that they use ( two other grills hanging around on the patio) so I may see if a brand new Walmart special would entice them!
That one's most likely worth a new 18" @ $79, actually......or see if you can find a deal on a newer one quick like.............
If you can figger it for less, that's great....but I'd say some minor arm twisting may be in order..... 8)
That's a funny story JC. I can't wait for the outcome.
Funny! I try to get some history on kettle purchases, but this would be tops!
JC, It seems I am always encouraging you to find extra work and trouble. :-[ but also ;D
No bail huh? Yikes...but good luck with the cado!
I have fairly new 18" if you need, we can work something out.

Some people buy trouble.....others get it for free................ 8)
JC, check on the Targets in your area-- they have end-of-year clearances this time of year. Perhaps a BNIB black 18 would be a very happy trade (and even happier for you, if you can get it for 50% off!).

That is the angle I would take. Personally, I am not sure it is worth a "new 18 OTS". If you feel the need to replace it with another grill, I might try grabbing a used 22 OTS and swapping that out.
By the way ... I do have an 18 OTG I may be getting rid of ......
They have one of these sitting on the patio too.

She said they don't know how to use it.
I was thinking about offering one of these.

If cash is not preffered.
;)
$15: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/for/3997690856.html
It is a 22, so therefore an upgrade.
UPDATE!!!
I spoke with the owner of the 18 'cado. She and her son( not the incarcerated one) are willing to part with it and prefer a trade! ;D
My initial offer was another "old grill of similar design" but larger, as there are six or seven adults living with her. She thought that was a great idea!!
So what I need from you guys is for you to confirm for me that no one here would be interested in this:

She has been hiding behind my garage. Char-Broil 3 wheeler with a flush top cooking grate. At least 25 years old, dirty, but serviceable. I can clean it up and let it go, or...what say you?^-^
I say drive on !!!
If they'll go for it, they'd be rollin' in true "Happy Cooker" style & may even appreciate the bungee cord attachment !!!!!
And maybe offer to giv'em a quick lesson on the offset.....thrown in for free ...... 8)
:-X

Buckie, were the old Char-Broils the same as Happy Cookers? I thought the HCs had an internal ash pan?
Either way, this grill SUCKED for drinking and grilling! Rolled more than one bratwurst right off the edge of that flush top cooking grate.>:(
The dogs liked it though.
Okay, since no one here spoke up for the Char-Broil,;D I went ahead and traded it straight up for the 'cado.
I am not keeping it though. Someone with true resto skills has spoken for it!!;)
Needs a bungee cord........ :o
just kiddin' !!!
glad you nailed it & got it placed where it needed to be !!!!
Well Done jc!!
You are a true Grillfella
Nice work, John! I stand in awe.

For you Buckie, a pic of the ol' girl when I sent her off.:'(

NO BUNGEE! I re-aligned the front leg/triangle joint so it was no longer needed.
And cleaned it up a bit.;D
Great work! Glad you got a good grill to keep in the club.

Ya know......on second thought.....that would be a great kettle for a large turkey.....look at the size of the lid, damn near as deep as the bowl !!!!!
Nice score JC. Good to see that grill rescued. Plus sounds like the owner was happy with the trade.(<----- now the question is will they be happy when the brats and hot dogs roll of the grate when they are drinking and grilling probably not!)
Oh, fer gawd's sake you guys....there is such a thing as skewers...... 8)
Made my day John!
Nice! Cado for a Happy cooker, Your the MAN!
Sweet cado jc....good story with a happy ending too.
You should try and keep that old grate before you make the trade JC. Just slap in a cheap one from HD.
Love it! Whoever is getting it is very lucky! Love the 'Cados!
