Can't wait to score one of these off of CL!
Wonder if I can order a cover for my homemade mini?
Part# 83167 DSGN-CVR VINYL 14" SMC UNPKGD

Very cool!
I'm curious to see how it performs compared to all of the homemade mini WSMs out there.
Out of the gate ... well, it is a Weber after all. Curious ... that's all. ;)
Awesome. Love it.
Hmmmm...... John Deere?!?
MODEL #: 721999 DESCRIPTION: 18.5" SMOKEY MOUNTAIN COOKER W/BLACK HANDLE, BLACK, JOHN DEERE
.
http://help.weber.com/schematics/browse.aspx?model=721999
Look at part number 14. Typically I would guess this is the external heat shield /ash pan like on the 22 and recent 18s. However in this schematicit is placed in a spot hat we might infer it goes internally? I doubt it, but it did raise an eyebrow.
???
The John Deere sounds interesting.

Mac, what do you want to know? I have one and have used it a lot.
The water pan looks deeper than mine. The second grate also looks bigger than the original, but smaller than the top grate. The top grate is probably SJ size, and the bottom is prob 18" charcoal grate size or old style JJ. Not that they also have handles.

Based upon the schematic, you're absolutely right. Perhaps, due to the smaller bowl, the ash pan is necessary to prevent ash from clogging and falling out of the bottom vents. It might be nice.

I saw that too. I think they will be using the same drop pan that the euro smokey joes come with. Any idea when these are due out?

Not sure when they will be out but i think the models in the past have been released October of the prior year. That would be nice, but not holding my breath.
Mr. X may have mentioned October Shaun and G$...understand Duke?

I actually think its just for ease of cleaning. Here is a pic of my bowl. (https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/209314_646325451458_625924_o.jpg)
According to the website that schematic is for a 2014 model.

Yes, we have been hearing these are coming. This is more visual proof. Often times they are released late in the year prior....so late 2013...
Hmm i think im gonna have to snag one of these when they come around , any guess on price , $199 ?
I can't wait to see this.. saving all my spare change and dollars starting now! And the John Deere 18 please let that be true. I have a huge collection of John Deere die cast tractors that some day I will inherit from my step father. I grew up working on and operating John Deere tractors and equipment on our dairy farm. Wow I gotta get to saving some money! September is my b-day think the girlfriend would be suspicious if I told her give me money and I will get my present in October???
Sparky, $199 is current conventional wisdom, but I am not aware of anybody that has a confirmation on that figure yet.
I have never purchased a weber kettle NIB. I HAVE purchased several WSMs NIB. I am on the fence with shelling out 199 for this one.
Same here , wsm my only new purchase, i will spend the money for this will work great at the camper ,i cant store the big sob there.

Just read this comment from Weber on their Facebook page ---
Weber Grills --- Yes, there is a 14" smoker coming out in October. Thanks for your interest!

Me too - this is likely to be an early present from Santa this Fall as long as Mrs. Claus agrees.
There's a huge thread on tvwbb about its release with a real picture too. It's gonna have a grommet plug for the probes as well. $199 price point.
Thread with photo

QuoteI'm the store Manager for my local Hardware Hank/Weber Dealer I just got the 2014 order form this morning & they had the 14.5 WSM listed to be ordered the start of December with promo pricing at 199.95
The bigger question is, can we somehow stoke up the fervor over these smokers so that all of our friends buy them, then use them once or twice before selling them to us at a discount in a few years?

Chris asked what colors were on the list for 2014 and here's the reply
Chris, you are correct about the Blue being discontinued. The new colors are Crimson & Copper for the 22.5 Kettles and Performer Platinums. Crimson for the Genesis series.
Wonder if it's the same copper as Target had? Probably is...
From tvwbb -
Just got an email from my dealer BBQBarn in Arlington MA, here is the lineup of grills etc, notice the 14.5 is $199

I bought a used 2013 WSM in December of 2012.
Gonna take back the Smokey Joe Gold I bought yesterday to start my Mini WSM project. If they are making one anyway I'll take their release over my would be concoction, although it would have been fun.
Do you guys hear that sound? It's the sound of my 1880' value plummeting. Lol. I am really excited for the bbq community though. I hope that this little guy gets more people into the hobby. But not so much they take all the cheap kettles ;)
I think its gonna flop after one year. Just like the new SJP.. Not enough demand.
What they need is some custom limited editions Kettles in Colors.. 8)

Those are all new model smokers! Where can I get the little one? Not listed on Amazon yet. Will another vendor get them first?
thanks,

Very cool! What's up with the fire pit? I thought it was discontinued, and no middle ring?

Unfoutunately you can't. The pic was taken at a fair in Germany. They showed off next year's (summer season) new products. The charcoal and gas go anywhere are also new in Europe. The fireplace showing in the picture is changed, the middle ring is removed from it...

Yes, and in my opinion they should still be there. You can't move the new model's when they are hot. I also use the side handles when I fold in the legs...

If anything it's a win win win for weber.
Less liability for moving a hot grill
Less parts to assemble and provide
The box can get smaller without those handles sticking out.
That CGA grate is cool. Is that a grey SJ in the back?

Not sure if this direct link does anything as it looks funky as hell - http://c929377.r77.cf2.rackcdn.com/54795_070113.pdf
And where are the new colors for next year - crimson and gold?
Chris posted this blurry pic of the new 14" next to his 1880
The 14" is a bit taller and he said that space leaves more room between the coals and water bowl
.

My dealer said his Weber rep is coming in this Friday and they are ordering some 14" WSM's. I told them order one for me. Couldn't help myself.
