Hi all!
I've been grilling away occasionally for family and friends on an 18 inch Weber after having received it as a BIG and special gift of my mother many years ago now! I'm technically from a country where barbecue is more of a rare gimmick rather than a lifestyle (here food is considered more for functionality rather than recreation), though I've finally caught the BBQ bug lately standing behind my kettle multiple times a week now for the past couple months.
I've really started to appreciate the functionality of my little Weber, it's turned into an extensive hobby trying to explore the variety of things you can cook with one of these. There's not a lot of constants in life, though somehow this amazing piece of Americana has been quite a bright spot during some more difficult times lately being a reliable and dependable little friend loyally helping me to put smiles on the faces of the people closest to me. The more I cook with it, the more I am impressed with its design, it is one of those things that was just "right" from the start.
Anyways enough of the sentimental stuff, I am very much ready to get more involved with these kettles and the people who appreciate them! Now the time has come I want to start modifying it, my goal is to slowly build and accumulate new accessories to pull the most performance possible out of my kettle, to find new techniques of cooking I haven't tried before, and who knows to make a couple new friends along the way!

We often eat smoked eel, I'd like to be able to smoke them myself so the first accessory on the list is turning a sheet of mild steel into a cylinder as an "insert" between the kettle and the lid to essentially turn it into an 18" smokey mountain. It needs to be proper tall as those fish are pretty long and they go in whole :D. Besides I found a couple spare cheap grates, so it'd be neat to have a bit of a higher cooking capacity when we have people over.
For the second accessory I managed to get a great deal on a couple rotisserie skewers for both poultry and kebab, years ago I've pulled a fine little motor with gearbox reduction out of a bin at the workplace, so most parts are sorted to build a neat rotisserie.
I also got a couple wooden tool handles coming my way to screw onto the dampers (it's one of those kettles with three separate dampers on the bottom) for more easy adjusting during cooking.
There's many many more ideas I want to try, though time is mostly going to be the limiting factor ;). Anyways, if there's any interest in these projects I will gladly share some pictures on the forum once construction begins.
