Managed to bag this 26'er for £21!

Looks cosmetically pretty tidy! Couple of repair jobs on the list

4 piece cast iron grate included, one broken piece. I may just make a griddle to go in that section

I'll either rivet the sockets back on, or I may use 1" conduit flanged adapters which I think would be solid

I had to look up the conversion...wow $28!  Looking forward to seeing the rehab.... Congrats!

Yeah, their money's weird and I'm not sure what they use for measurement either.

Not surprised seeing one missing a leg socket or two.
Looking forward to your restoration.

Picked it up, quick scrape and degrease and I'm rather happy with it!

Used the original sockets in the end. Sweeper still opens and closes with the bolts. I don't use it for sweeping anyway

Yeah it seems solid now, replaced the front leg with a bit of curtain rail as it was bent, and it's a lot stronger than the OEM leg!

Re speed- My wife is away with the kids. One night only, so making the most of it, should probably be down the pub but instead I'm kettle fettling lol.

Plan was to do a couple Costco steaks and baked potatoes for me and a pal, got em out the freezer last night and they're still solid as a concrete block, she must have turned the temp down... So Ittl have to wait till tomorrow!

Removed taco and Reshaped the OEM handle, managed to get the dome bolts out and reuse. Will probably spray it black, and give these handles a refurb.

Well done. I too enjoy cooking on my Glen Blue 26. Plenty of room for everything.

[mention]bamakettles [/mention] I see you've removed taco on your 26 lid, how's yours been? They're so heavy I'm worried Ittl crack the finish. did you support it underneath the lid with any extra washers? I was thinking of drilling a couple of holes in a strip of stainless to brace it on the underside between the bolts, or maybe even reuse the taco

No issues experienced and didn't use any fiber washers.  I did use the standard Weber nut on the bottom side which gives a bit more support IMO.

I love my 26 and I am sure you will love yours. I picked up a slow n sear xl a while back, but I think I need to convert my baskets like that.

I would love to pick up a spinning grate, but I think you should definitely also pick up a raised half rack as well. Though the 26 is big, once I split to two zones, I always need a bit more room. 4 pork chops and 6 ears of corn takes up space.

Yes it's funny how it still fills up pretty quickly! Good shout, I have a raised half rack in the shed somewhere!
