Title: First cook on rust resistant kettle griddle.
Post by: getlego on July 05, 2025, 09:15:23 PM
I finally got my back into shape and lifted this hunk of metal into my ssp.  I was shocked it barely fit because of the bale handle threads. It was so tight I had to force it in. No problem at all with the performance. I followed the instructions but it was so hot moving the coals around I made more of a flat snake than a piled snake. Using a laser temp probe I was getting a consistent 300 degrees. Again my fault for the wrong stack of coals. But in my defense I was in swim trunks and no shirt. Not a great time to organize coals ! We cooked a simple breakfast and it all went smooth. It definitely needs more seasoning but wow it was fun.

Agreed.  I chose to cut those exposed threads down to the nut with a dremel tool because it was a tight fit for both my griddle and grill grate.  It made it a little better.

That breakfast looks delicious.  Nice presentation also.

I have a bunch more pics but it said they were too big to upload. I'm not sure how to fix that.

Pictures from my phone are too big to upload, so I get them onto my Windows computer first, then I use the Snipping Tool to create a smaller version (in .PNG format) which I am able to upload just fine.  I believe that there's something comparable on a mac.

Nice looking breakfast there!  I agree, it's fun griddling on a Weber.

I also have issues when trying to post pictures directly through my phone.  All my photos from my iPhone are backed up with my google photos so I copy them from google to my pc desktop to a specific folder I use for foodie pics.  It automatically downsizes them when I copy them to the folder.  I can then create a post from the pc browser and attach up to ten pictures per post.  It's what I've done since the app went south.  Maybe that will help you out.....

Thanks for sharing your griddle cook!
