Title: Hello From Maryland
Post by: BigedBarbeque on February 09, 2025, 05:39:58 AM
Hello Kettle Heads,

Long time lurker, rare poster.

I am a retired Military empty nester and proud Weber Kettle Cooker since 1992.

I love my many kettles and often get yelled at for my 26" One Touch Platinum conversion. The OTP's original designer, hates it. I also love my naked cherrywood handle replacements for all my kettles (the cherry handles do not absorb heat so no gloves needed and no dropped kettle lids).

That said, I am an accessory whore. From the Corn n' Tater ring to the kamado insert, I have or have tried most everything.

I currently restore and donate kettles to fellow vets to keep my bbq shed from overflowing and to spread the bbq love! 14 kettles donated to date.

Only question: What happened to our boys at BBQIT and Thewoodshed smoke & bbq with slowhand? Who has updates?

Cheers!
-BigEd

Welcome from Huntsville, AL!  Nice collection you've got there and it's an awesome feeling to give them away from time to time.

I'm not familiar with BBQIT, but I do know Greg (slowhand) through YouTube and purchasing some of his baskets in the past.  Last I heard he stopped making custom baskets due to health issues and stopped making videos soon after.  I used to love watching his cooks with his caring intro "How y'all doin?  Hope everybody's fine....."  I still have a smokey joe basket / steel disk setup from him that I've never used.

Again, welcome to the group!
