Title: Coffee Roast on my GB 22 Kettle
Post by: Winz on September 15, 2024, 11:17:37 AM
(http://https://pics.weberkettleclub.com/images/Coffee-Rig.png)A Swiss buddy of mine is in the coffee import business and offered some raw coffee beans to me if I could figure out how to roast them.  After some research and a short buying spree, the following was the result.

I used coconut shell briquettes to keep the taste of fuel to a minimum.  It worked wonderfully and the temp controller kept us right at 400F.

We did this cook at my place near Montreux Switzerland.  Montreux is mentioned in a song by the band Deep Purple - fittingly we have named this first batch "Smoke On The Water"

Cheers, Winz

That's cool! Most of the charcoal roasting setups I've seen online people struggle to get a consistent roast. I've got a dedicated Weber propane 1000 with a 4lb. RKDrum roaster with a 50rpm motor and a bouncy house chaff blower/bean cooler. Typically roast 1-2 lbs @9-13 minutes

This is so cool!!
I've always adored the setup that @swamprb uses... and his beans come out superb!

I almost bought a gasser just to roast beans
