Is that a tater, tucked inside an onion sheaf, with garlic bits?

The wife would love that !!!

Yes Buckie it is with evoo and salt and pepper put on the coals comes out so soft you don't even need butter or sour cream although I do add that to mine. The onion comes out tasting so good.

Thanks Buckie. I always double wrap them in foil. Seems to protect the onion alittle more. I turn them twice on top of the coals then set them at the edge of the coals on the charcoal grate till they are good and tender .

Some great pics there!! Outstanding looking meal!  :D

Your potato method looks fantastic! Will try that, for sure. Thanks for sharing.  :D 8)

Is it safe to assume that the taters cook a little quicker being directly on the hot coals?  ???

You know Mac I really would be able to tell you on that. Reason being is I have always done them this way and no other way. Have even done them in the camp fire when camping. I usually cook them and test the one that is the med sized one by poking it with a thermometer. I have been doing them for so many years it is off of feel and a internal timer that I have developed over time. Sorry wish I could say more. My over all feeling is yes they cook quicker. Like I said to Buckie I put on the coals turn having them on two sides. And then usually when I get ready to put whatever I am cooking above the coals I move them to the edge of the coals but not touching them. Hope that helps.

Ron I liked the batch 19 it is a stronger amber taste than buds black crown. I got it from a liquor store called sun devil liquors. It is here in mesa. Have not seen it anywhere else
