Post by: Andrew Weber on December 31, 2023, 09:56:19 AM
Quick question, what year did Weber introduce the curved back leg kettles and also stop production of them.

It's Europe only 1981 till 1983. I have 1 c-code and some E codes.

Ok great, thanks for the reply , I'm in the middle of buying one and I'm trying  to work out what year it is as I can't see the top vent , it's got single strew wooden handles and the 2 large split pins on the rear legs , have you got any ideas ?

O it's a 18" chocolate brown Bar-B-kettle exactly the same as your black one (speck wise).

Can you see if it has the one touch cleaning system? Then it is probably an E code. The c code has 3 daisywheels.

No it's definitely a Bar-B-kettle, the 3 temperature vents on the bottom of the bowl, I suppose it's a silver.

Yes, the black 18" and the green 22" are c-code. De green one has a double rivet top handle and the one the only single screw bowl handles. The black 18" has 3 single screw the one the only handles

Ok excellent, for the hell of it I'll let you know for sure what year it is when I get it, I buy and sell Weber kettles, this will be my 129th , I buy them , completely dismantle and thoroughly clean every surface and polish all the aluminium. I do GA , Smokey joe's , 18" 22" and one day I'll do a 26" when I can find one.

What was the thinking with these legs? Obviously stability I assume but why

I think it has something to do with regulations back then.

@MoparProud @Joep
The background in the rear legs, Frontleghook and the clips are for some reason in stability in the lawn. You pushed with your leg the metalhook in the ground and put the clips downwards to fix the wheels.
Btw, Bentlegged kettles were released in 4 colors and both sizes of 18 & 22 inch Webers from 81 C code to 84 F codes. The only bentleg with daisywheels in the bow had been the C code. E and F codes had like the rest of the worlds releases the new invention for it's time of the cleaning kit OT system.

Regards Bertl

Thanks Bertl, I had missed the clips on the wheels but see them now.

Very odd
