Picking this up tomorrow. Not sure what I will do with it and wish it was propane.

Nice score for sure. I have one in an 18.5". Very cool grill!
When trying to find more information on this this type of Weber I was directed back to this site. Looks like there are two red 18s in the club.
Nice!
QuoteNot sure what I will do with it
Plug it in and cook on it! It's a Weber kettle after all 8)
I've got gas ::) not electric, so I'd be interested in seeing lots more pictures when you get it in your hands.
Nice grill. I would like to see how it cooks. Try it out and let us know.
If you don't want it I'll be glad to take it off your hands. Can you deliver it to the DFW Amtrak station? 8)
Another red 18 would be nice :D
Haha, I should've known it was someone on this board!
Emailed the seller asking if I could pick it up today. He said I was second in line, since he was holding it for someone tomorrow!
I expect some pictures etruax! ;)
Don't wont it :o
Send it to me and I will send you a red propane kettle
You'll have no trouble turning this around in the club. I think Jeff has a photo of his plugged in and the burner glowing in the dark. It was badass looking. I'd love to someday find an electric along with a propane kettle. Funds and wife not killing me in my sleep permitting.

Well Done etruax!!! That's a great piece and looks in good shape, plus its a red!!!!
Love that pic too Jeff
Here are two shots taken just after pickup. Being a 22 this grill has two elements with one being like the 18's element and another that runs around the outer edge of the kettle. Another difference with the 18 is a switch for direct, indirect or both.

That's really cool! Cook a chicken or something on it. Let's see how it cooks. Thanks for the light show Jeff! :)
Is there a drip pan that goes above the heating elements, or is that thing below them the drip pan? Or are you expected to not put stuff directly on the grate?
It is raining here so no night picture yet.
The grate sits about 1 inch above the elements with the silver disk below the elements. There is a hole in the bottom of the kettle but the drip pan (cup) and drip pan holder are missing.
The owner had just got it at an estate sale and used it once so no history.
Just seems weird to have burger fat dripping on heating elements like that.

Think of it like flavourizer bars...... Remember this wasn't webers most popular unit
Did you check the Weber web site for an instruction manual?
I was not able to find a manual anywhere. Adding a few more pictures, this time showing the guts. Correction on the element control as it is only direct or indirect. If the rain will give up I will plug it in to see if direct energizes both elements or just the inner.

Wow that wiring looks a bit hacked !
I would at least wrap some tape around the connections before pluggin it in to see if it works .
The wiring almost looks like a jumper to light the direct and indirect at the same time.
I'd bet you plug it in and turn it on, both elements light up.
I guess it could be a fix for something that is bad.
Yeah, I'd wait for the sun to shine to light this up :o
