Title: RRR 22.5 OTS
Post by: Tom C on July 13, 2013, 11:13:16 PM
Found a 22.5 OTS on Craigslist, I figure if it was in good shape it would be worth it. The pics look good so I went to check it out.

When I got there I was sad to find this Weber was abused. The lid had a concaved dent in it from the lid being drop on the handle. The kennel had 1/2 inch burnt on crude to the point the wiper was out of shape and unmovable.

I offered $20 because it was in bad shaped, when she said ok I gave her the money and ran.

I'm sorry I didn't takes more pics on the before condition because it did look bad.

Before pic of wiper before I took a brass wire wheel to it.

After a lot of cleaning, chipping and wire wheel she looking great. The dent in the lid popped out with a good hit with a rubber mallet.

I  loaded some charcoal to reseason her and do a test run on a low and slow cook.

After a few hours I decieded to see how she cooked.

She burned for 6 hours at 300 to 325 degrees.

On the left SBR's Sweet Chili Wing Sauce, good taste but needs more heat, the right is JD's Honey Teriyaki.

Nice save Tom! Great looking wings too. That's a good price and a cover thrown in is even better. I may have to get a brass wheel for the ash sweep.
