Hello,
I reside in N.VA and am the proud owner of a Jet Black "Late 1979" Weber "A" code 22 1/2" Kettle (71001) with an ash pan with rolled edges. My Dad purchased this grill new at our local base back in 1979. I'd like to clean it up and start using it again (it's been sitting in the shed, covered up, for the past 15 years or so). It has plenty of rust but the bowl and lid appear to be in good shape and probably just need a good clean and polish. The aluminum legs and triangle will need the steel wool and metal polish treatment (from what I've read on WKC). Although I love my 2008 Weber Genesis E-310, I believe I have enough love to share with both grills.
I hope to learn more about charcoal grilling and "harnessing" a live fire. It'd be a shame to let a vintage Weber rot.
