I've had my grandfather's 1986 (H series) kettle since 2012. In that time, it has been exposed to all sorts of weather, abuse, and lack of cleaning. I just didn't know better! Searching for replacement handles brought me here. I now have new handles, sweeps, and a cover on order. I'm hoping to learn how best to restore her to her former glory. I'm currently working on the bowl and lid then will progress to the triangle.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm in the central MO area.
Welcome from Kalona, IA. You will be surprised how well it will clean up with a little elbow grease and time. You will have it looking like new again.
Thanks for the encouragement! The bowl went well. Today's tasks are removing the rusted out sweeps and cleaning the grates. They are very rusty.

We'd love to see a few pics of your kettle, once cleaned up.
Will do! It's a surprise for my husband for father's day, but I don't think the 4yo will keep the surprise until then.
