I've done two cooks with a new Weber chimney and I noticed peeling inside. Is this normal? Is it potentially problematic?

It's fine.
It will still outlast almost any other chimney out there.

The only thing you'll ever have to worry about with Weber chimneys is the top rivet breaking, which is easily fixed with a nut and bolt.

The amount of concentrated heat in the chimney is going to burn the plating off of the bottom cone and, in time, the chimney will rust and corrode, because of the heat and elements. But, the chimney will still last a long time and is worth the money spent.

I agree with Foster. I have been using the same chimney since 2004.

2016 new purchase. Probably several hundred uses a year, left outside but not directly in the elements. Below zero to 95 F usage. It's so corroded around the top bolt, there's no metal for the bolt to hold on to. I got my $15 worth (2016 Dollars....).

To all on this thread — thank you! Your input was very helpful.
@MichaelM I aspire to cook enough to have a chimney that looks like your 2016 one!
