Monday marks exactly two years since my first vintage Weber kettle find. I recall taking a half day off from work and driving into Tennessee to meet the seller who was from Nashville and agreed to meet halfway since he and his wife were heading south that day. I gave him a Ben Franklin and I put the grill parts in the back of my Yukon, all separated so no parts would scratch each other. It was my first in person viewing of a metal bowl handle grill and I was pretty excited to say the least. I remember feeling a bit odd at the prospect of owning 4 grills, but I got over that quickly as anyone can attest who's seen my posts. This one is special.....Funny how they all have a story to go along with..... I'd love to see similar posts from you WKC members that care to share. Here's my '75 red head....(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211209/f0edad26f746d2167499d60b97a33d81.jpg)

Yes, there is always a reason that "first wife" is long gone!

Agree! I still have both wives in my life, but my second is the one that has my heart and always will....first one is still a dear friend. I can't seem to let go of grills either!

Thanks! I actually didn't know how many times I've cooked on it until today when I looked back through my pictures. 3 times it seems. I cleaned it back to new condition each time so it could come back to the Weber room.

She is a beauty! Thanks for sharing pictures and the story. My first vintage cooker was a C date code 18" wsm which is still my favorite and go-to smoker.

Thanks! I'd love to see some photos / cooks on that C code WSM. I keep hearing that the 18s are the best WSM as far as ease of holding temps.
Wow, what a beauty!
Beautiful grill

What is the definition of vintage for a kettle? For cars, it's 20 years old. For airplanes, vintage is 30+ years old.
My first vintage was an A code weathered warrior on the right. Bought on CL in October 2017 after I found this club and started to learn more about how to clean them up. The previous owner was the grandson of the original owner. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211211/137a3bb86ace7b796d70c6fed5c36fa2.jpg)

Not sure what defines vintage for kettles. I figured when I saw this one that's 45 years old in this shape it had to be vintage if not antique. There are some really nice ones that
@harris92 has that would be considered antiques IMO. I graduated high school in 1986, so I figure any kettle that's still around from before then are vintage to me. I'm particularly interested in kettles from the 70s as this is the time of my childhood and it's cool to think that someone was grilling on my grill when I was just a kid riding my bike. Come to think of it, I'd love to have my old bike(s) from that time. Yep, I'm the nostalgic type.

I'm with you. A fond spot is held for anything from the 70's. My daily driver is the '79 Cooker. I have a brand new 2015 Kettle, with all of the upgrades to make it a Master Touch replica, but never use it.
My first (and only) vintage is a birth year redhead that
@DrewZ procured for me. Still stashed at my parents' place nearby till I can find a way to get it on the patio without wifey noticing lol.
My first vintage kettle is my mid-sixties thumbscrew Texan. It has this very unique stain in the porcelain of the lid.
I aquired many other vintage kettles over the years, but I have passed them all on to other owners. This one is my keeper.

Bama - here some pictures of the 18" wsm C code when I bought it and after cleanup in action. "The One The Only"!

Those ribs look competition worthy!
They took third place in a small competition pre-covid.
